Getting closer to making finals isn't a victory. Getting closer to finals is the best thing for the kids.

This staff deserves to go. In finals or out.

Regiment's moral victories shouldn't be "making finals" or "beating spirit".

There's been enough time for this regime to show its true colors.

    thank you, General!

Good question. I haven't seen anything after the tour premier.

I guess they are scrubbing the internet of recordings until they feel comfortable with it being recorded.  That's understandable but it would be nice to watch them improve for those who aren't fortunate to attend their shows.

Plenty of content in programmed in from when I saw them at Ford Field.  Just extremely unprepared with the fundamentals and complete lack of clarity....those two are pretty tightly tied together,  feet and brass in particular.  Define visual technique, clean those feet, and bring the brass up to the level of the percussion and those content/rep numbers should start moving north.  That and the key change in FOEG is just downright offensive to the ears.

Two weeks in with these issues..........SAD

I mean, you're certainly entitled to this opinion, but obviously lots of people disagree with you, and you won't win them over by just telling them they're wrong.

not trying to argue. simply stated my point.

Here is an idea for those of you who want judges on the field.  Put two teams on the field.  One on the sideline and one on the field.  Half way through a performance the two teams switch places.  They won't know how their scores will be used.  I suspect one might be surprised at how similar the scores would be.

At one BOA regional I attended last year, it did look to me like a judge was at least giving one tallish prop a close look. No measuring tape, but standing next to it to check against his own height. The rules on height were instituted sometime in the past five years, I think, and they are: no prop taller than 12 feet, and no one standing higher than 6 feet off the ground without a safety railing.

if i were judging i'd abide by it, but i'd communicate to my caption head too, and I am sure feedback is being gathered from both corps and judges. It's not popular at all, and safety is a smokescreen. If they were truly concerned about safety, the stuff being wheeled out as props would be vastly different. Please, argue that, I can't wait.

not here to argue, and you can come up with "what ifs" all day long, but judges don't belong on the field

    IMHO end of point

Well, that was part of the argument for making this change, and since the rule passed, apparently a number of people at DCI were convinced.

That said, I would be curious as to when you think design was most dangerous for judges on the field.

Or for anyone: which were the shows with the greatest potential to injure a judge who wasn't quick on his or her feet?

who cares about the judges.  it's the kids they need to be concerned about

The only thing worse than Regiment not making finals, would be if this show somehow pulled together and scraped into finals and this staff was allowed to stay. Let's pray that doesn't happen.

Obviously, the best case scenario is that they pull it together AND the staff still gets blown up. That way the kids get rewarded for their work and the Admin and Board reward that effort by not putting them in this spot again.

    AMEN

Ya, I see them still in, contending for 11-12.  It's early but they HAVE to start cleaning blatent visual issues that are affecting playing.  They actually have some power in that hornline and the kids are digging the show.  Plenty of talent (like this was a concern).  Got to hear them real close and personal this year.  Tight group of kids.  I see a couple of musical resolutions that clearly need to be added (should be easy) and a LOT of foot work needs to be addressed like yesterday.  This show is WAY better than last year in a lot of ways.  SUTA!!!

Comparing this year to any year since 2010, IMO and I know most fans disagree, is futile.  Maybe they should stay home for a week, bring in a couple people and fix the show the best they can.

Jesus I feel like I've been in a coma for 10 years. We're mic'ing entire hornlines now? I thought mics were for soloists and low volume pit instruments.

I absolutely hate all the mic'ing.  And I don't understand what the purpose of mic'ing the whole corps is.  I was listening to a couple of older shows, one in particular Into the Light, and the subtle tonal nuiances were so beautiful.  They would have been ruined by mics.
