Great statement from "The Cadets" on the September 24, 2020 legal proceedings:

Please tell me you’re being sarcastic.

Yep. Suspended. @Jeff Ream posted it a few pages back.
This is what drives me slowly insane. It takes someone’s desperation for justice for anything to be done.
After all that’s transpired in the activity recently, you would think these CEO’s and board members would get their head out of their collective ##### already.
I wonder if it were any other activity, would they still have jobs?

I don’t think anyone was saying it should be buried. There was just a question as to the wishes of the victim.
I’m not saying it was the case here, but for a situation where the victim does not want their personal circumstances to be made public, do you think it should be made public anyway?
To me that is an interesting ethical dilemma. Where I used to work, someone posed such a hypothetical to HR. Their answer was that you had to report what you know to HR, even if it means betraying the trust of the victim.
No, I don’t think personal circumstances should be made public if someone asks you not to. I don’t think I could do that to someone unless they were in danger, then that’s a different story.

I understand this was posted on Reddit, but I feel like this was meant to be a private communication to the Mandarins family. I would like to recommend to the mods that this thread be removed.
I believe this is why nothing ever changes, because it gets buried, just like Santa Clara and Cavies alumni buried their brewing stories of abuse.
Besides, the accuser posted publicly on her Facebook page, because she felt she had no other recourse and I know exactly how she feels.

Drum corps is a very tight community, the who knew what when was a hot topic of conversation when this all happened. Many also received e- mails announcing this was in motion way before it hit the internet. Doesn't matter what I think, ask yourself.
Just look at other situations that came up and the who knew what when, the ones who ignored things, and I'm not talking GH, ( not to bring up old topics and litigate everything yet again on line ) As far as being a Narcissistic, that for sure wasn't any secret .

A bit of the most recent info was given by GH's counsel in the local media; the rest is from the on-line docket sheets - the links were provided above.
A plea bargain is commonly offered in criminal cases, either by the prosecutor, the defense, or both - and it is typically a negotiation between the prosecution & defense. The judge also has to sign off, and then the details are made public when the deal is finalized in open court.
I’m not talking about that.

Really? Just who is feeding trial information to people now? I would love to let the prosecutor know.

That's what I was thinking. But if you're innocent, do you accept a plea deal possibly for a lesser charge or reduced sentence?
Trust me, he’s not innocent. If he takes a deal, that won’t be the reason why.

Saturday I came across a post from Hopkins on Facebook. His train is off the track lol. Sounds like one of the sunday morning pastors begging for forgiveness from someone who is not listening. Sad in a way.
It’s actually more pathetic than sad.

Speaking of the Cadets 2020 and 1980...LOL...
I just realized that this year is the 40-year anniversary of "the year that saved the Cadets"... when the corps was on the brink of going under before the season started, then rallied and made it back into Finals.
I went through that. 😬

You don't have to tell ME who created Cadets. Like I said, it's a nit-picky argument.

But GH was the director of The Cadets since 1980, and since he was there during the time Cadets won all of their World Championships, based on your argument, The Cadets name should be changed as well.
As I said, I think it's being too nitpicky to get rid of a mission statement because you feel it is associated and been betrayed by a man who didn't live up to it himself.
George didn’t create The Cadets, but he created that mission statement. I guess that’s why I feel it should go and I have been saying this since he was fired.

well - they aren't "folding" and they have a solid plan to move forward
YEA! donations went to the members op expenses at the time so a valuable investment - well done by you, and I, and many others. We've impacted many young people!
after the 2/16-17 camp there's a 2/18 alumni meeting then I'd guess public announcements of "the plan"
I'm personally VERY excited for the Cadets - time to excise Hopkins and his "building magnificent human being" liberal BS instead of building a strong organization and treating staff/volunteers appropriately
There's people posting in this thread that are victims. And there's people posting in this thread that are part of the future.
I think we'll all be excited this summer and when we hear "the plan"
"Cadets organization"
They may want to change their mission statement then.
Our Mission is to support the development of young people into magnificent human beings through participation in the performing arts.

Well now, come on. This is not actually true - it's not a binary situation. It's entirely possible that someone with actual knowledge would post on the thread, especially when trying to correct an imprecise angle of argument. They tend to speak up if they can get past rolling their eyes. It doesn't help when posters with real information, which may seem diametrical to the line of reasoning, is deemed crazy and then marginalized as being uninformed - especially by those whom you describe above. Admittedly, there are those who are widely known as loons or nutcases - I'm not referring to them.
I've seen several posters here who are stating information that I thought would have been known only by someone who attends meetings, volunteers and talks to volunteers, serves on a board or committee, or otherwise stays "plugged in" to the corps and activity.
It's not so hard to imagine the gravitas of the people lurking, and even posting. Can one really identify the people behind their anonymous DCP screen names? If you don't know them personally, I think you'd be surprised who watches, posts, is active, and is here to learn and understand, including donors, sponsors, and equipment providers - not just directors and corps board members.
Exactly and some of this information in this thread being posted is coming directly from Cadets active alumni very close to the situation and the Cadets board (either directly or word of mouth)
Someone’s always watching.

Let's also not exaggerate it. He was charged with a criminal act and faces the consequences for it. There is no downplaying anything in that. But I've read many things in this forum and others that have taken the allegations by adult women in the workplace and somehow morphed them into a belief that young members were involved. That's not downplaying. That is simply acknowledging the facts.
Did any of the reporting of the Philly Inquirer delve into financial mismanagement issues? I am sure some of these problems only revealed themselves after he was gone.
How do you exaggerate that over 20 women have accused him of some type of assault? Who cares how old they were/are? Wtf?

Skating on thin ice? Source please.
I have personally been told by senior alumni members that the cadets were in dire straights unless a big corporate or private donor bailed them out and a new board is being formed. Of course this is all “rumor”, so if they don’t want rumors started, maybe they shouldn’t be spreading them, lol

Yes and what good is all of that if they can’t function financially.
And yes, YEA IS a train wreck, on that we can agree

Either The Cadets are in dire financial straights ready to go bankrupt or they’re doing just fine. It all depends on who you talk to on any given day and who you believe. I hear something different weekly.
