Or the Kardashians. Though finally, after what, 10 years of that nonsense, people are at least turning their weird attentions to Taylor and Travis.

Taylor has been a huge ratings boost for the NFL product bringing in the Swifty family. Maybe she should start dating a prominent DCI figure? 😁

I am an Astros fan. Baseball is actually my first love. Watching Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio play in the Astrodome was special. I even remember folks saying they would never make the hall of fame because they refused to leave Houston. HA!

I used to respect the Arlington Rangers until 2017.... how they treated us during Harvey was extremely disrespectful.

And I gotta be honest, trash talking the Astros has never bothered me that much. I have been a fan of the team through the best and worst times. Nothing is going to change that.

Cool; just messing around. Glad to see you back! 💚

I also will mention that I was hoping to find out what SCV's bingo profitability was prior to the Bingo fraud of 2005.

Unfortunately the "Gaming Operations" break out numbers are not disclosed on 990's prior to 2009. The 990 form was just shorter. After 2009 the IRS forced non profits to provide more detail.

This is what is meant by transparency.

Independently verified factual numbers to be critiqued with critical analysis by financial and accounting professionals.

Transparency is not sitting around the campfire waiting for someone in SCV leadership to tell their story.

Maybe they're sitting around the campfire burning past financial documents. 😂🥲😂🤷‍♂️

Discussions on Reddit suggests that percussion turnout has been good, but brass are lacking.   Also, perhaps 30 (SCV) vets total Corps-wide.

They're advertising or recruiting for more students to audition for brass on their social media accounts, so somethings up...

ETA - Curiosity question- How did it come to pass that the guy in charge of bingo lives in Hawaii?   As I have said before, w/ RL providing much backup, I would think that bingo is something that requires pretty close supervision.  Especially when it seems to be what is powering the whole machine.

This has been a question of mine since it was disclosed on this forum. How on earth can you run this type of operation remotely from the 50th state of the USA? @Richard Lesher Surely they would have to make periodic trips to the bingo operation facility & some of the board meetings? (Are the board meetings in person or are they performed virtually?) 🤷‍♂️

My favorite is zooming in so close to the guard soloist's face that you can't actually see their solo 🤦‍♂️

... and somehow still cutting away from the catch at thy end of their solo.

One of my favorites during their first contract year was the sideline camera zooming in on the guard equipment exchange behind the flats.  Guard member was kneeling down behind the flat for a flag swap & happened to look up at the camera. Her face was like 'what the hell'? 🤦‍♂️😂

  7. Purchased Muncie tickets again; I love watching Crown rehearse preseason. Didn't go last year & regret not making the trip with that incredible 2023 horn line. Thinking about going on up to Michigan for the premiere, but that's another 8-10 hours drive time. Still have time to decide.

Also purchased the all-age tickets. Had a $10 discount from DCI but of course, the code wouldn't work in Ticketmaster. Shocked! 🤷‍♂️

I told my husband it was $100 for three days of BOA nationals and he thought I was talking about being there.  I won’t repeat what he said when I told him no, that’s the cost to stream.

That would probably work if you take a good cardboard box & pack some beanee weanees. Find a good location under the ArtsGarden or overpass.

The director should have left well enough alone and just done a slow fade into majority dance over a couple of years.  My band has all three auxiliary groups - guard, dance, and majorettes - and it's a pain to design around.  You also get petty squabbles between auxiliary groups, entitlement/chips on the shoulder if one does better, etc.

No way, this would never happen. Shocked! 😂

Hey they can do whatever they want, call it whatever they want.  I obviously keep going as I have been for 55 years.  I’ve already purchased tickets for the shows in Ohio and I’ll probably go to a few shows in Illinois. Plus Indy.  I’m just making a few observations.  No one gives a #### what I think about this stuff. I’m just the idiot who keeps going to the stuff.

    Mega Monday December 4th!

In this specific case the OP mentioned, they were going to terminate the usage of implements. With the possible exception of swing flags.

The good news is that an agreement was made during a heated community meeting last night to retain color guard and add a dance group.

Wow, thanks for the info & clarification. That's interesting for a Texas program. We have majorettes, dance line, & color guard, otherwise know as the auxiliaries. (I can never remember if auxiliary is one "L" or two "Ls".)

I think this is just a change in the "labeling" or marketing of the ensemble. I'm sure the "Dance Company" will still utilize all weapons at their disposal. (We have dance line members that also perform & compete with our winter guard.) Just my thoughts & opinion. 🤔

ex: historical titles such as flag corps = color guard, etc...

Adding to my comment (it's early): I meant to say many schools in our area have added dance teams that are not associated with the band or cheer programs. This is probably a recruiting technique by re-marketing the 'brand' of color guard. I was thinking the comment but it didn't make it to print. (needs more coffee) :sleepy:

Dance ensembles, studios, etc, have really become popular over the past decade & there is a limited amount of cheer positions. I think this maybe to appeal to those other students involved in their schools's dance teams?
