    I’m well aware of the custom of loudly screaming at every rifle and flag toss in WGI. The two mediums are very different. In DCI, the focus is mainly on the brass drumline, and pit to create music and a mood. Unless a guard feature is occurring, the color guard is there to support and enhance. Loudly cheering “GO SARAH!” In the middle of a ballad is, well, pretty rude. On the other hand, cheering on a difficult flag toss in WGI is much more appropriate as the mood of the performance is not being disrupted

    WGI = expanding.

    DCI = shrinking

    And those lamenting the crowd reactions of the past, perhaps the younger generation is just a bit more courteous to the performers than those in the past. Showing polite appreciation for the performance rather than rudely trying to become a part of it

    Just look at WGI for young generation response.

    I'm not sold on narration being the answer, but I've long found that the best Regiment can seem to do on sound design is, for lack of a better description, "ethnic moaning." They've been using it for years, and they continue that tradition this year. An effective use of electronic sound that didn't involve narration was 2018 SCV (the Babel-esque languages) - something more sophisticated than <insert moan during transition>.

    Ethnic moaning?  How about just "moaning?"

    In all honesty it annoys me when there are people around me loudly cheering while I’m trying to appreciate a show. Might be a generational thing. So many people have ruined/made themselves a part of the finals recordings for a lot of performances in the 80s and 90s and I’m happy it’s not as prevalent nowadays. It’s more courteous

    You probably wouldn't enjoy WGI - the screaming after every toss is even worse.

    They should follow the covid protocol that baseball is following which isn one week until everyone tests negative.  They don't want to spread this to the other corps. DCI needs to make sure the corps is safe!!!!

    I wonder how Finals retreat and the age-out ceremony will be handled this year.  No mixing between corps allowed.

    No.  But this isn't something that rises to law enforcement.  Far as I know and read nothing indicates any law being broken so what charges could you bring?  Threatening to call someone a name (and not ever doing it btw) won't have the police coming to arrest someone.  That doesn't mean that doesn't need to be addressed mind you.  There are a LOT of things that don't break the law but are still crappy.

    I have a friend whose husband is transitioning.

    I could post what they deal with in public, but all you would see are asterisks because words like this are automatically blocked on this forum.  Complete strangers yelling things as they shop for groceries.

    Yes.  And when it is not decisively addressed to the time it festers.

    Do you mean because the instructor was not fired, it was not decisively addressed?

    Or because Phantom did not comment on this publicly?

    Or perhaps both of the above?
