  1. Well, if you're ever in a rehearsal with a certain unnamed brass arranger, ahem, this years Crown, do NOT call yourself a soprano if you are really playing a trumpet...he'll kick you out of the horn arc. <**> Then you'll be forced to quit Crown and go march with the Blue Devils, ala Minh.... Go Devils '03 SOP section! :lee:
  2. Lets see...I was at the show, but selling tickets all day, so I only saw the division I corps, Bluecoats, Crossmen, and Crown. However, a friend of mine from tour last year said he'd be posting a full review later on...so await that. Anyway, here's my opinion...take it for what its worth. The Bluecoats show, in general, seemed cleaner than the Crossmen show (understandable, they've had more shows) but it looks like the Crossmen show has more room to grow once it gets clean. To quote a friend of mine, I tend to like shows that aren't really big on the concept....ones that are bam, hit you in the face with an awesome sound and wow you with some clean and hard drill. Call me an idiot, :) but that's what I like. That describes the Crossmen show pretty well. Coats would have won last night, but the Crossmen were the crowd favorite. Carolina Crown has a great show....it was very obvious that they were exhausted last night, especially during the closer. From what I heard, they got beat during the rehearsal day which would explain the fatigue during the show. They are planning on adding quite a bit more to their show...might enable them to make a run for the top 12 again. Their closer, carol of the bells, is AWESOME and will be INCREDIBLE once they've added everything. Sorry I can't say more about the corps, I was pretty tired during the show :) We await your review Keith....
  3. Since we (Crown '02)were playing those dynasty "tune any note" horns that really prohibited us from tuning ANY notes...we referred to them as 'da NASTY horns.
  4. Crown's uniforms....well, what can you say...they're buttercream in a big way. I'm not crazy about them (then again, I'm sort of biased since I marched with them last year) but I think they achieved what they were going for. The idea was to brighten up the corps and make it more "audience accessible." As far as the guard unis...I heard them described at the preview as "guaranteed not to burn upon re-entry." My favorite Crown show remains the 96 Chess show, but then again, I haven't seen them march this year, just the standstill Thursday night. We'll see how they do Tuesday when they're back in their home Carolinas...they sure shocked me with their score in Louisville.
