  1. All Interested Parties: Some more detailed camp info. Brass camp 1 to 5 pm. 1:00 - 1:30 Informational meeting. 1:30 - 3:00 Brass block 3:00 - 4:00 Visual block 4:00 - 5:00 Brass block and wrapup discussion More info on the corps website.
  2. Updated information on the upcoming Texas camp can be found on the Pioneer home page at : www.pioneer-corps.org.
  3. "If he is so concerned about Pioneer's numbers, why doesn't he try to help them recruit instead of bashing them every possible chance???" Thank you. Well said. To clarify: 1) We had approximately 30 brass at the last camp. 2) We had brass members and guard members missing for a plethora of things. 3) Brass numbers are up from last season. 4) We are continuing our recruitment for brass members and color guard members. (See post in Announcement forum regarding Texas brass camp on the 25th.) 5) We have more recruitment opportunities coming up in the next month or so. 5.5) Not an excuse, just plain fact: Milwaukee is in the Midwest. Specifically, like real close to places like Rosemont, Rockford, Madison (2 corps there), La Crosse and Dubuque. Not to mention Racine, which is right down the road. Recruitment in this area is SATURATED with corps, most of which are current or former top 12. 6) We have a timeline in place for recruitment, design, etc. which is going to make this corps stronger. 7) We have some of the lowest fees in DCI, any division. This is due to an OUTSTANDING group of supporters that work the corps' Bingo. (And if any of you are reading this.....Thank You!) 8) This thread was started as a camp update thread. Someone from Pioneer gave a camp update. 9) If you are truly interested in Drum Corps, sponsor a kid to march. I have a mello that would love to join Pioneer that would be glad to be sponsored right now. Also have a contra, sop, bari and a guard member who are interested. What keeps them from marching? Money. Feel free to PM me and I'll be glad to get you in contact with these kids who have the desire and the talent, but need financial help to make this possible. (For those that are counting, that's 4 MORE brass players and a guard member..... all from the South.) 10) Point a kid to Pioneer. Like I said somewhere else on another thread, we have plenty of equipment. 11) A few personal observations: Administratively, the corps is in great shape. Financially, the corps is in great shape. (No, not Star of Indiana or maybe some of the other big dawgs that have great financial incomes, but this corps is DEFINITELY in stable financial shape.) Atmosphere-wise, this corps took in this Southern boy and made him feel like he was part of the family from the moment I first got off the plane in Milwaukee. Food wise - This corps eats well. (An army marches on their stomachs or something like that.) Member wise - The students at Pioneer are some of the hardest working kids I've ever been around. Period. Staff wise - I can say that one of the highlights of this past weekend was sitting in a classroom with the other caption heads working on show design, seeing them getting as excited as I was getting. These are some first class professionals that are with this corps for the long haul. I'm proud to be a part of that. Camp update over. Corps update over. Have questions? Contact Pioneer: From the Pioneer Website: www.pioneer-corps.org You may contact the corps at any time by the following means: By Email: dbcpmilw@execpc.com By Mail: 4601 W. Holt Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53219 By Phone: (414) 327-2847 Corps Cell: (414) 333-2235 Corps Fax: (414) 543-8289 Part of the solution or the problem????? It's a choice.
  4. Heh.... Larry, you SO funny! I hope we do run into each other this summer. Been awhile. I'll be on the road through San Antonio for sure, possibly until Indy, depending on when school starts down here. Alabama schools have a nasty habit of being in class the first of August. Hope to bump into you this summer. Bobby
  5. 30 or so at camp. Some students were missing for other school activities. The more the merrier....and louder. Loud is good! Right?
  6. To reiterate and clarify: Our brass numbers are up..... not where we COULD be (Hey, we have busses and instruments for a full corps!) or where they will be. We have a number of recruitment camps scheduled over the coming months, so we plan to round the brass and guard numbers up some more. And yes, it might sound trite, but I am really excited about the potential of this corps. The staff is popping, the kids are GREAT, and the administration is hitting on all cylinders. Yes, we still have room for more brass and guard members and would invite anyone who's interested to check us out on the web at www.pioneer-corps.org, come to a camp or contact anyone with Pioneer on the corps' forum. I would hope that anyone who might be interested in marching, but may not think they have the money, ability or what not will contact a corps and march! There's a spot out there for you. Desire goes a long way, but only if you act upon it. Best of luck to everyone this summer.
  7. Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps will be hosting a brass rehearsal camp at Arlington Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas on Sunday, February 25th. (Dallas/Ft. Go to www.pioneer-corps.org, hit the forums link and post in the Prospective Member's area for further details. There is NO FEE for the camp. We hope to see you on February 25th!
  8. ADD: And some of the cleanest air in the world! This, according to Mr. Roman Blenski, who assures me that the frigid temps will help kill the germs causing this wonderful head cold I'm sporting. Hey, I believe him! Come join the family! Camp starts in 9.5 hours!

Check out the information on the camp as well as other pertinent info on the corps website: www.pioneer-corps.org. 17. This was something I started to do while in a lull in classes. Sifting through each site for what info I was able to post was fairly time consuming. Here's hoping others can take this and work from it. Also, some corps charge a camp fee for only some of the camps. For example, I believe Mandarins only charge a camp fee until accepted as a member. Pioneer has 6 camps at $30=$180 for camps, $1200 for summer, $60 Audition fee and $125 for uniform stuff. Total to march would be $1565. This does not include the $50 equipment deposit or any credits for recruitment, bingo, etc.. So far we have: Troopers-$1,480 Pioneer-$1,565 Bluecoats-$1,710 (These are, I believe, the three "least expensive" corps to march this summer, based on the figures available so far.)
  18. Last week I started putting together a spreadsheet regarding this topic. This information comes from the corps websites and is not complete, so anyone that has any more info, please post. Academy: Tryout-$20.00, Shows-11 Blue Devils: Tryout-$100.00, Summer-$1400-$2000, Shows-26 Blue Knights: Shows-31 Blue Stars: Summer-$1700-$2100, Camp Fee-$75.00, Shows-35 Bluecoats: Tryout-$50.00, Summer-$1,300, Camp Fee-$60.00, Shows-27 Boston Crusaders: Tryout-$100.00, Summer-$1,600.00, Required Fundraising-$180.00, Camp Fee-$35.00, Shows-30 Cadets: Shows-32 Carolina Crown: Tryout-$85.00, Summer-$1,700.00, Uniform Fee-$100-$200, Spring Training~$100, Camp Fee-$65.00, Shows-30 Cascades: Summer-$1,850.00, Camp Fee-$25.00, Shows-22 Cavaliers: Shows-17 Colts: Tryout-$75.00, Summer-$1,775.00, Uniform Fee-$175.00, Camp Fee-$50.00, Shows-32 Crossmen: Shows-30 Esperanza: Tryout-$40.00, Shows-16 Glassmen: Tryout-$85.00, Summer-$1,795.00, Camp Fee-$40.00, Shows-29 Madison Scouts: Tryout-$75.00, Shows-32 Mandarins: Tryout-$75.00, Summer-~ $1900, Uniform Fee-$30.00, Required Fundraising-$150.00, Camp Fee-$25.00, Shows-21 Pacific Crest: Summer-~ $1800, Shows-17 Phantom Regiment: Shows-32 Pioneer: Tryout-$60.00, Summer-$1,200.00, Uniform Accessories-$125 (Includes shoes, corps sweatshirt, dress shirt, 4 show shirts, gloves, socks.... 19. Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps will be holding their December camp this weekend, December 15th - 17th at Cudahy High School in Milwaukee. Applications are still being accepted for membership in the 2007 corps. If you're interested in marching in the ranks of Division I, take a look at www.pioneer-corps.org and come see what the excitement is all about. Corps fees are some of the lowest in DCI. Many corps are approaching the $2,000 mark (if not more). Through the hard work of those who are running the bingo program in Milwaukee, Pioneer's tour fees are ONLY $1,200 for the 2007 season. Currently scheduled to compete in 33 shows plus Pasadena week, this promises to be a fun summer! Do you live too far away to make camps? Well, if you live anywhere along I65 from Huntsville, Alabama to Indianapolis, In to Milwaukee (I80), there will be a carpool running to camps starting in February. Come catch a ride! With veteran brass arranger Larry Kerchner writing the brass book and DCI visual judge Ed Warren heading the staff and writing the visual book, the opportunities are endless. (Of special note - The corps is looking for some upper brass "screechers". High notes are good!) Come join the Pioneer Family!!! For further information, point your browser towards www.pioneer-corps.org.
  20. "First up was Memphis Sound and the weird thing... they were late for their own homeshow! " Actually, the show was delayed for 20 minutes due to a problem with Magic - not sure on the particulars, but they "hit" something with their equipment truck.
  21. All openings are now filled. Thanks to everyone who has been in touch with us. Hope everyone enjoys our 2006 production and best of luck to all of our drum corps bretheren. See you on the road.
  22. Contra Hole is still available along with 2 guard spots open (flag) and 1 bari spot. The show is coming along nicely.............
  23. As of today the sop hole is filled. We may have a contra hole due to a family emergency. Contact Trey Moore ASAP. :D
  24. Yes I do! Saturday's dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and watermelon was Box 5. Execution was flawless and the GE was over the top. (See, even our food is truly drum corps!)
  25. And new front ensemble equipment. With the front half of the show on in the past week, this promises to be the best edition of the Memphis Sound yet. What better way to work on your tan, travel across the nation, perform in front of thousands of people, improve your performance skills and become part of a great family of kids and staff. Plus, housing, food and rehearsals at Christian Brothers University. Air conditioned dorms, lighted rehearsal field and some of the best cafeteria food I've ever eaten. Interested? Email Mr. Moore as soon as possible and come join the fun.
