  1. Bill I was in section 135 and saw Joel go down, many in our section yelled to get the attention of your DM and the judges. A woman behind me dialed 911; a doctor who plays with the Skyliners jumped the frnce and went out to assist. A sad moment in Drum Corps but a way that all of us who love this activity would want to go doing what we love to do. Condolences from the Florida Brass Family to the Kiltie Family, his spirit will live on Bill Saunders/Baritone Park City Pride Florida Brass CT Hurricanes Alumni
  2. Rich Tardy has taken his lumps over the years, in my day there was not a lot of respect given to the honor guard, they were expected to go stand in the corner after the color presentation and look good. So it does this old baritone's heart good to see the accolades given when due especially Rich who has given so much over the years. It especially comforting to know that as a former Hurricane, you are still considered a part of the family.
  3. I was on the field when just about all of them were in effect, it wasn't that bad. The big difference back then was that Drum Corps was for anybody who wanted to join and were willing to learn, worked as a team and stayed. There were always a few that would corp jump. Oh yea and a bugle was rotary/valve, we did not have trumpets, sorry I mean the modern 3 valve bugle
  4. Being an old time Vet, several excellent sop's besides Art and Art ( Can't remember how to spell their last names) of the 60's Hurricanes come to mind; Tommy Martin - Skyliners, a little known player from the 50' and 60's Ken Adams of the Geneva Apple knockers and Don Angelica of Hawthorne. There are many more from that era who given the three vavle trumpet keyed to a bugle range could surpass a lot of today's sop players. Remember these guys did it with just a valve and rotary.
