Does the curfew mean they have to stop at 10?

Crown is scheduled to go on at 1019 tomorrow night. Just because someone says they "believe" there is a 10 curfew, does not mean there "is" a 10 curfew.

Personally I have no idea if there is a curfew or not. I am planning on sitting in the stands until corps stop entering the field. I think its guaranteed everyone will perform unless mother nature has other ideas.

I'm all for judging being whack but there is also sometimes they can not make sense. Like these groups are performing so consistently night to night how can someone be 6th one day and 1st or vice versa. Or 7th is MA by two judges but 10th and 11th in the individual.

What if all the shows are at about the same level? In 2014 it was obvious that BD was clearly 1, Bloo and Cadets were clearly tier 2, etc. The ordinals reflected that. If the shows 1-5 are all super solid, you are more likely to see discrepancies across the board in numbers. If we are consistently seeing numbers all over the place, that implies to me that we have a great season with 4-5 REALLY good shows.

Going into the last 2 weekends with the numbers leading to all kinds of questions is a good things in my eyes. I can't wait to see how this all shakes out.

The difference between the four GE judges is proof that GE is in the eyes of the judge. It’s like two different corps performed.

    Very frustrating, DCI.

What do you tell the designers at Bluecoats to do?

If you want the 4 GE judges to have identical scores, why hire 4 judges? Save the show sponsors some $$$ and hire 1 GE judges.

If all the judges have them same numbers its "slotting". If the numbers are all over the place, folks complain about that as well. What a thankless job judging must be...

Ok, so the initial question is how is he able to attend a DCI show?

    • For starters it is simple: he is a free man under constitutional law. He may be on some sort of probation, I am not sure, and if he is I am not sure what those terms are.
    • I get the sentiment of wanting to erase everything about this person, but the law does not work that way. Many on here are very emotional about this person and what he did, and you should be. I am too. And look at the damage it did. But the legal system is clear. He is a free man. He can live his life. He has a right to work and feed himself. He has a right to see shows, go to restaurants, see movies, go hiking, post on websites or social media, etc. And if you infringe on his rights you will be the one going to jail. You don't have to like it, but that's the law.
    • This seems unfair but the legal system tried to get him. They did their best. In the end most of the cases were so old it amounted to "he said vs she said" kind of stuff and so they had to focus on the most recent accusations. The world is not perfect.
    • If DCI wishes to ban him they can certainly try. They may get a law suit thrown back at them unless there is some sort of court order that GH can no longer be around kids, or at least kids in the activity. But without such a court order good luck.
    • DCI would first have to hire lawyers to apply for such a restriction, argue their point, and hope they get a restraining order that would allow them to ban him. It might be difficult. With his daughter teaching he, as the father, has a right to see his kid.

We do not have to like any of this, but the law is clear. His trial is over. I am not sure what other conditions he may be under in terms of parole, if he has any, but I will leave that up to the law.

The best thing for DCI, fans of DCI, and the members marching DCI is for us to move on and build a better activity. Stop focusing on this guy. Will we remember? Absolutely. Should we keep dwelling on it every time he pokes his face into a show or makes comments on social media? Heck NO! Who gives a flying squirrel what this guy does!!!

THIS! I completely agree. I will add on top of this, how does one stop him from attending events. Nobody working at the Alamodome knows who GH is. Should they post his picture outside all stadiums, and have people scream if they see him? If someone buys a ticket and gives it to him, there is not digital trace of him having a ticket.

It's easy to say hey shouldn't be attending shows. The logistics of keeping out of shows are much more complicated.

on multi cam there was no sound for the first 3rd of BD's show

If you backed out of the stream and reloaded, the sound instantly came back. I missed about 15-30 seconds of audio. I have learned that a soon as any issue occurs (sync problem, lost audio, prolonged buffering) reloading the stream fixes the problem 90% of the time. Its not ideal, but most of the time it corrects the problem quickly and with little hassle.

  6. At this point, I feel like there should be a scheduled stand still show every year. When Muncie was a standstill a few years ago, it was awesome. Cavies, Bluecoats, and Phantom tonight was awesome. Give me a day in early July with all corps doing standstills on Flomarching. Three sites, East Coast, Midwest, West Coast. Start at 6:00 in the east and finish at midnight east coast. No overlapping. Just let me hear the music in the arc.

DATR already moved their Denver show from the grass field at the Broncos stadium to the turf field at CSU in Fort Collins. I’ve checked, and there’s at least one turf field in Rockford with seating similar in size to Boylan Catholic, so there should be no problem shifting this show to a turf field in the future.

Just because someone has a turf field, it does not mean they would agree to host a show. Reach out for sure...but its often not as easy as saying "there's a turf field, lets put the show there".

I want everyone to be safe. That said, if every other group marches (and Blue Stars move quite a bit more than Bluecoats) this kind of stinks.

I did not realize it had started raining during intermission. I retract the previous statement. Student safety has to be the #1 priority. Hope everyone stays healthy and dry this evening.

Nope. That really stood out to me. There is also an awful lot of small group features where the rest of the corps is marching to give an illusion of simultaneous responsibilities, but it's noticeable that's what they're doing. A whole lot of marching to your set, stopping to play a passage, then marching to the next set, wash rinse repeat.

    You just described Bluecoats.
