  5. But I didn't screw up :) I was having fun and just extended the show by a second :)
  6. Ditto... just found the thread as well. Interesting account but about 50% correct. 1. Superman was sitting at the top of the hill with the rest of corp with Red Shorts and a budwiser beach towel around his back because of being sunburned at practice that day. 2. The corp looked up and decided to start singing the superman theme... hmmmmmm and of course he dove down the hill. 3. Afterwards he went back to the top and Sky (not Sun) wanted him to dive again but he would have nothing to do with it (and yes this started the love affair) 4. He took off Running hurdling a pretty high fence (can't remember how high) with a ton of sky members in pursuite 5. He made it to the other side of the stadium when a number of cabs caught up to him right as Sky was closing in. 6. The Cabs stated to the Sky members that if you want him you come through us. I don't know if anyone remembers the Sky / Cabs love affair back in those days. 7. The Cabs escorted him back to his corp where interestingly enough a local college coach was standing and offered him a spot on the team... hmmm he did love football 8. After than the love afair between Sky and Superman continued for the next couple of years with all of them eventually building a really great friendship PS... now if only he had half the energy he had back in those days. :)
  7. RIP Mr. Entertainment... you were an inspiration to a lot of people and portrayed what the activity is all about. You and your family are in my prayers.
  8. Nope asked him if he knew who he was and he said know and asked why. I said he died and his response was well ask whoever wrote the obituary and they should know. Typical Jerry response. :)
  9. And I still have them both :).... it's amazing to see just how much i have matured... just received an award from PMI Global (Project Management Institute) in October for Recognition of Excellance for Volunteer Leader. Hmmmmm did i use the word matured. My wife will beg to differ. Hey Ben... look out Meeeechigan is putting together a heck of a coaching staff.
  10. Hmmmmm it was just yesterday the two of you got hitched... how can it be your anniversary already. I remember it as if it was yesterday :) Robyn and myself just celebrated 15 years on Thursdsay... of course I was sicker than crap :(
  11. I just laugh when I think about it...... I gave my heart and sole to Westshore and they will always be family. In 84 when the corp was going down hill quick I was at every board meeting helping put ideas on the table. I knew that I only had a couple years left to march and night and day my life consisted of Westshore. That day when we went to Danville I had NO INTENTION of joining Reading but when we all talked I realized that hey this may be a great chance to finish out what I consider the best years of my life. I had some great friends that went there with me (Ben, Steve, Kelly, Morgan, etc) and that made it easier. While a lot of people may have been upset about what we did it was us who had to deal with it to. I had A LOT of people in Reading that did not accept me at first. It took them awhile to realize just how dedicated I was to helping them. It was different but the group hung together and in the meantime made some great new friends. Just like in my career now I can look back and say this mgr really helped me get where I am today. Watching the likes of one of the greatest drum instructors ever (Robbie Robinson) and his assts helped me when i left drum corp and started teaching for the next 10 years. I look back on all the kids that I helped (hopefully in a good way) and it was worth every single momement. Heck this was 25 years ago and to this day I can say that I keep in touch with a ton of people from my days in Westshore (they are always family) and I keep in touch with friends i made in Reading. When i look at lot of the personal issues that have come up in my life throughout the years it was these friends that were there for me. I remember when I cut my hand real bad it was Shelly from Reading who came right down to hbg. When I went through my divorce it was Shelly who was there for me night and day to listen. And heck god knows I rambled so much throughout the years to the best friend anyone could have Mr. Rook that he lost his hair :). And Ben and myself while we don't see each other as much now that I'm in Ohio have been through a lot as friends. Ha... see this is a topic i could ramble on for hours about but won't.... All I'll say is for the people that had issues with me or anyone else leaving get over it... I put 8 hard and dedicated years into Westshore and they will always be my family. If i had to agree with my biological family all the time man would i be screwed :)... OK enough over and out :)
  12. Wow now you bring back some memories Ben. I can remember the day at the truck when they issued me my uniform. The crowd standing around just watching. Westshoremen were and always will be my family. I grew up for the most part with my mom raising us and I felt very strongly that I was letting down my family if I put that uniform on. I keep remembering everyone come on do it... man i will never forget the day. Once I did I found out that it was ok. Reading became family as well. Shelly really helped me adapt.... she was and still is the best. She helped me both as a member of Reading and personally after corp. The one thing I always learned is that no matter what you do in life you do it full out and I still remember 84 the first time on the side line when I looked up in George's eyes (God rest his sole, He was truely one incredible individual that will never ever be matched again) man the intensity was incredible. While I never did feel at home at Reading like I did Westshoremen they are memories that will live with me forever as well as some great great friendships. I just wish i could do it one more time because thinking back on those days 76 - 85... man they were the best days of my life... Man now i'm going to cry :)
  13. Superman came about when i got sunburnt at one of the shows and after the show I was sitting at the top of the hill with red shorts on and a wet budweiser beach towel around my back. Wasn't my fault. I was just minding my own business. And Sky... They ain's so bad :). hmmmmmm come to think of it neither was Lois Lane.
  14. Man... i had a ton of "Love for Sale" that year... geeeze can i go back :)
