  1. Hmmmmmm comment..... Let me see Let's see if I can be as they say politically correct. Back in those days Sky was known for the brawls they got in as much as they were for being a kick ### corp. It all started at a show i believe in Jersey where Superman was born (so to speak). After our show there was no retreat so the corp was sitting on a hill and decided to form a W. Of course somehow I was at the top of the hill with red shorts on and no shirt and a budwiser beach towel draped around my neck protecting a not so fun case of sun burn. Next thing i know everyone in our corp started singing the theme from super man and yelling for me to dive down the hill and of course I obliged. Afterwards I went back to the top of the hill and sat back down and by this time Sky joined and and wanted me to dive again but I declined there so kind offer. At this point Super man was born. About 6 guys from Sky were determined that if I didn't dive they would help me fly down the hill. Of course i wasn't going to stand for that so as they came tearing up the hill after me i ran like a bat our of (#@#. By the time they were at the top of the hill I was on my way running like ()#)# to the other side of the stadium and of course with them in hot pursuit. Next thing I know a bunch of guys in Hawthorn caught me and circled around me about the time Sky caught up. They to get to him you have to get through us..... Geeeze now that was really nice :). After that it seemed like the rest of the season (I believe 80 or 81) that Sky and myself had a date at most venues that both corps were at. Of course I never back down on making new friends. By the end of the season we were drinking buddies and the rest is history for the next year or so. Hmmmmm Memories. Ohhhh to be young again.
  2. Jeff: I'm glad someone took care of it for me :). It was great seeing everyone at the show. Both Craig (My Bro) and myself gave our contact info to Wally. Hopefully we get added to the Alumni list. Would love to be kept posted on what is going on. Sure did bring back some great memories last night.
  3. Both Mr Raudabaugh and myself got our start playing bass in Westshore in 76 at the ripe old age of 14. Whooo Hooo that was just yesterday :). Hmmmm Hershey is right around the corner. I'm sure which I'm more interested in seeing the seniors which i haven't seen since I moved out to Ohio in 99 or the continued showdown between the devils and SCV (they are right on top of each other).
  4. Dave: You have an awesome family.... It's really amazing the changes we have all went through throughout the years. But those times we all spent in Drum Corp together can never be replaced. Ben: Tell Lisa my feelings are heart. I thought she love me :(.
  5. Ben: Tell Lisa that I'll be in town she will want to skip the trip to California :). Hershey will be more fun anyway. Come on.... you can do it, I know you can. Ha can you say ....... whipped :). Hey what is Santora's email. I want to try and get ahold of the Italian dirt bag before Hershey. Were coming out to PA that weekend for a family reunion. The whole family will be in town.... Whooooo Hoooo. Hoping to make a trip to Philly to see Rook and Joey P while we are there. Dave: How the #### are you..... I have always wondered where you disappered to. It's scary hearing about everyone getting married settling down and having little ones. Scary but awesome.... When does your little one start drum lessons? Dave (Rev) and myself have emailed back and fourth a number of times and exchanged pics... it's amazing to see changes people go through. I sent him a link to a picture web site I put together for my family just so he could see that like him my hair is disappering (actually shaved what was left when I got my motorcycle). If anyone wants to take a peak you can find it at http://rschomburg.ibeamsolutions.com. Ok.... time to fly and take the little guy for a bike ride.
  6. Oh come on Ben... I'm going to the Hershey Show... matter of fact i'm both my brother (contra) and myself are going. Hmmmm now back when we were in Drum Corp most people didn't know we were related (Can't figure out why :) )
  7. Dave: I heard about Mark from Mr. Rook... hopefully the Steve's can shed some light on it... As for your housewarming let me know would love to catch up and make the trip to Toledo. You can email me at schomburgr@insight.rr.com. This thread is awesome it not only brings back a lot of GREAT memories but it brings a lot of great friends and gets them in contact with each other (No Rook i'm not talking about you because I don't like you !!! ;) ) I'm not 42 and my 8 years with Westshore to this day rank right up there as the best time of my life.
  8. Ben: I hear ya... just found out this morning that the Mall they were talking about was the Polaris mall (15 min from home and right across the street from where i work). Boy makes me feel comfy. Almost as comfy when Rook was our instructor when we play Toms :).
  9. Dave: Great to see you here...... If we keep things going we can form an alumi corp with everyone we are dragging in there. Jim: PS about Larry he was somewhat recovered on the way home from NO... He came to the back of the bus thinking he was going to show me how to play poker and I took about $100 from him. I'll have to see if I can find the pic which I still have. People kept coming back for updates and of course me being the young punk kid was kicking some butt :) Dave: Where in Ohio are you now? I'm in Columbus. Moved here back in 99.
  10. Ben and Steve (MOOK) rightfully so you should love me. It was me who showed you the right way to play volleyball :) (Another Non-Drum Corp Story). Ok now by god we have enough people in this thread to cordinate this. I think we need to get together and have a get together. Mr. Steve (Drumzx) where in Ohio is Dave? I'm in Columbus now enjoying life. As for Boston I don't remember crap about the show but #### do I remember some fun times at the motel (prior to our personel escort). I think i took flying lessons their.
  11. WOW.... 717, Redmesh, 4 leaf clover (Steve) you made it. This is the first time in 26 years of knowing you that you actually listened to me.... hmmmmmmmmm. You really should do that more often. Great to have you onboard i'm sure you can add to these postings. Jeff: My counterpart (Jeffery Lee) and myself called Wally.... Wally Ale... .hmmm i'm not sure why but it had something to do with Green ( and it wasn't St Patricks Day). Many of trips down to New Cumberland the night before a bus trip to stock up. Tell him I said hi.
  12. Ha.... I do remember those and the Hanover show. Come on back out to Columbus and we can see between us what we remember...... I'm not sure if's old age or what but the brain cells aren't what they used to be :). As for the tom parts in Love for sale you mean the Bigity Bigity Bigity Bigity Bigity Bigity PARTS:) Bigity Bigity
  13. Ben: Which stick moves to you mean, when we marched tymp or played toms? I remember both :). I'll tell Mr Rook your recruiting him :) As for Love for Sale now there is Kick ### tune. I borrowed some CD's from a buddy of mine at work last week "Burning for Buddy" A Tribute To The Music Of Buddy Rich with some pretty awesome guest drummers. Love For Sale came on and it brought back memories. Of course I got yelled at by the wife for cranking it. Geeeze where is her appreciation of great music.
  14. Where did you see Jerry at? The army concert? Anyway you talk Mr Barletta )aka *$%*#$ head :) ) into it and I may have to see if I can make that trip from Columbus. Could be fun :) What do you say Mr B? You can call Steve Rook and the gang :)
  15. Hey Mr. Barletta (I know, way to much respect) :) Do you ever see Glen? If so ask him about his trip to New Orleans... That was the trip he became a real man :). That was also the trip I showed Larry how to play poker :) I think I won close to $100 off of him (Not bad for only being 16).
  16. So Ben you didn't like my technique.... hmmmm I have a technique for ya.... Does here KITTY KITTY ring a bell :). As for my partner in crime (Mr. Radaubaugh) he did have this difficult time with the pants and his unique way of playing with himself without anyone realizing :)
  17. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm this is bringing back memories. Those were the days... I do have a couple of trophies from those years (from the banquet :)). Hmmmm maybe i should come back and do Drum Corp again.. maybe 10 years wasn't enough. naahhhh lost the #### cape and don't think i could run like back in those days. 18. Hmmmmm lots of great stories / memories.... Hmmmmmmmm Superman We were at a show I believe in Jersey somewhere and the show was a Drum Major only retreat. I had gotten sunburned that day and after we preformed the corp was sitting on the hill waiting for the scores. I was at the top of the hill in Red shorts and a budwiser towel soaked and around me (like a cape) to cool off the sunburn. Next thing i know the corp was singing the superman theme and next thing i know i was diving (flying) down the hill. Sky was sitting next to us and wanted me to do it again. I declined and next thing i know i had about 4 of them coming after me. Now come on back in those days don't challange me to a race. By the time they got to the top of the hill I was on the other side of the stadium and intercepted by some guys in Hawthorn. Once Sky caught up the guys in Hawthorn said you have to go through us to get to him..... Thus Superman was born.... #### now that was some years ago. 19. Hmmmmmm I could have swore that New Orleans was in "78"... Now I'm getting old but I don't think that old. Now I do know New Orleans existed. They were trying to show me how to play Hearts in the back of the bus when Larry came back and stated that he wanted to show me how to play a "Real Game" (Poker). Boy i sure am glad he showed me :) . After it was all said and done I think I took about $100.00 from him. Whoooo Hoooo not bad for a 16 year old who just learned how to play (ha at least he thought so). 20. Jeff: Great write up. This brings back lots of great memories. I do have to say that marching in the Westshoremen from 1976 - 1983 was not just marching in a drum corp it was making friends that last for a life time ( and who are more like family). I have friends that I made that I am still very close to this day. Westshore was more than a drum corp it was a family and an expierience that you never forget. My hats off to everyone who has kept the corp going it takes a lot of dedication and very special people. I heard that the forum show was a great success and wish I was closer and could have been a part of it (I think I still remember how to play) :) . Again thanks for a great article and i look forward to seeing everyone soon. Rick ("Ricky Lee" / Superman) Schomburg Westshore 1976 - 1983 Reading 1984 - 1985
