  1. I think most corps don't force anybody to sell anything. They are "forced" to pay for it if they don't sell it. Instead of looking at the half empty portion of the glass look at the positive side. An organization is giving someone an opportunity to pay for their fees by selling something. If you can sell it then great. If not then pay the fees. If you take away the fundraiser you aren't helping the kid that can't sell you are hurting the kids that can. The money has to come from somewhere. So the other option is to increase fees. "This is how much it costs and we offer no ways to make it cheaper. Write the check now!!!"
  2. The Blues Brothers - They're on a Mission from God!!! including the uniform - suit, hat and glasses
  3. Another jealous low brass player that can't play the melody. Mission accomplished!!! (relax - it's Christmas) Merry Christmas
  4. Troopers got in trouble for not filing taxes. It had nothing to do with money owed.
  5. What is the language of the text at the start of the video and does anybody know what it says?? Can't wait to see if they try pull off all the different drums in the music. Pretty cool new concept. Anybody ever done anything like that before?
  6. I have to admit that I am slightly shocked at the initial results of this poll. I tried to word the poll so that the question was not "Should drum corps be cheaper?". Of Course it should be cheaper!!! Put up a poll that asks "Should you march for free?" The answer is "duh." We would all love it to be free. The money has to come from somewhere. This isn't a profit-based business. Drum corps costs so much more than when I marched but so does life. And members expect a lot more from corps then they did years ago. The average corps is feed better, rides on better and safer busses and the typical instructor has improved dramatically in ability and training over the last 30 years. Yes there were high quality corps that were feed well with great instructors 30 years ago but top to bottom it is much better today. I hoped the quesiton was based on value not "Make it Free for Me!!!" Compare the cost of drum corps with the cost of other things in life and for what you get I think it is WAY TOO CHEAP!!!! Stop complaining...... it is a great value. Take the cost and divide it up over the number of days you are feed, taught and housed. Try living that cheap when you go on your own to the grocery store, gas station and your landlord wants the rent!!! Good Luck.
  7. The cost to march varies from drum corps to drum corps. Some of them split it up into different fees that still add up and others just charge one lump sum for everything. Many have veteran discounts and others don't. Some drum corps rely on member fees and others get funding in many places. You receive transportation, housing, food, instructions and entertainment. It all varies. This doesn't even include the life changing experiences. Each drum corps is different. What is your opinion about the cost to march? I know it would be great if it all could be free but that is not how life works so don't go in that direction. Please keep the topic on the value you receive for the price you pay. Do they charge too much or too little? For what you receive as a member, is it a fair price?
  8. Who is talking about the city? Read the title...... "Concerns with Rose Bowl" No one complained about the city of Foxboro it was the stadium. The Rose Bowl will be awful!!!! Bad Traffic Bad Parking Bad Restrooms Bad Seats Bad Sight Lines Bad Noisy Lights Great City!!!! Well, while I am not at the Rose Bowl watching drum corps it will be fun. If I wanted to see the city then I would go to the Rose Parade.
  9. We waited so many years to bring it to California and then this!!! Do you think the complaining about Foxboro was bad? Wait until Pasadena!!!! San Diego would have been much better.
  10. I would suggest keeping your desire to make either corps to yourself. Some corps think loyalty is important!! (me too) Hedge your bet but keep it to yourself.
