  1. certainly sounds like a strong brass line
  2. Why is that a stretch? I think you keep valuable things in a vault not just new things. Don't take it so literal.
  3. I assume you mean Music Ed Majors in college. I am always amazed when someone makes a post as though it was fact without any supporting evidence. I have been involved in drum corps for 30 years and not one drum corps could support this claim. How do you make this claim and what corps have you surveyed to prove it?
  4. Thank you. This post by 'RobH' should be required reading before anyone posts that drum corps is about bugles, not marching band, no amps, get rid of singing or whatever other complaint . Have an opinion on these topics. Disagree with the direction but don't be a jerk. Drum corps is about the experience not the equipment.
  5. negative - sure go for it critical - bring it on rude - go to RAMD disrespectful - that is a problem Lively debate is great. Difference of opinion and tolerace for others is what makes America great. But some cannot express their opinion without attacking. There are plenty of negative threads on this site but I am glad when they cut out the rude and disrespectful posts and posters. There is no room for those.
  6. Hey - - - Don't go using logic here!!! Don't you know - '72 is old school. '89 was just yesterday. :P Actually, '72 wasn't old school to me either. Now '65..... that was old school.
  7. Only one thing to say...... Whitewater - 1984 - Garfield (if you know what I am talking about correct me if I have the wrong year)
  8. The day that 1989 becomes "old school" really bothers me. 1989 is not "old school" ....... that was only 17 years ago....... well, maybe that is old. :(
  9. Although your sampling method sounds very scientific, "I talked to plenty of people", the annual report released by DCI in September 2005 indicated that overall attendance was up throughout the country in 2004. I have not seen anything for 2005 yet but I would be happy to send you a copy of the 2004 report.
  10. 1. Why is San Diego NOT better? That looks like an unsupported opinion. <**> 2. Why do the director's in LA rise to the occasion more than Madison or Seattle or San Diego? 3. Have some faith? Are you kidding? b**bs
  11. I will take Bridgemen '77, '78, '80 or '81. Any of them..... at least one of them. I love each of them.
  12. Once again, another post to twist of the language to suit your needs. Never said you don't need the fans. Please find that in this thread.
  13. I just love how the language gets used to serve whatever needs suit the poster. I don't think I have seen one post to say that the fans mean nothing. You asked three questions. Here are the three answers. 1. the kids 2. the kids 3. the kids The fans are great. Professional sports is for the fans. A YOUTH activity is for the youth.
  14. Many can make the argument that the fans are being taken. So many of you obviously believe that. I won't even try to convince you otherwise. But how are the kids being taken? Don't throw that out there without anything to support it. Also, it is still about the kids..... first. Not only about them but the most important in my book. If fans don't like that then you really need to question why your needs are more important then those kids. I am not pitting fans against kids...... others are doing that without my help. If the activity changes then so be it. Do I want woodwinds? Not really. But will I still support the activity. YES!!! Will it still be about the same thing. Guess my answer. By the way, buying a ticket to a contest and complaining on DCP is not supporting the activity. Donate your time or money to a kid in corps today. That is supporting the activity. But many won't do that because these kids don't deserve your support unless they do exactly the same thing you did when you marched. Go ahead.....don't support the activity. Senior Corps is there for you and I love that too. It reminds me of yesterday and my own memories.
  15. bdjazz93 - You have just become my number one vote. The winner is......... bdjazz93
  16. If you make a few more posts that agree with me I might begin to respect you. Be careful as mature thought leads to maturity. :sshh: BD was amazing in '88. DCI Champsionships through secret draw. But then it is still about the kids.
  17. Excellent use of cross-topic immaturity. <**> Read the subject of this post and the content of my reply. The question was not about the activity but the stadium. If you can't play in the sandbox with the big kids then don't at all. But since you opened up the topic..... regardless of experience in the Rose Bowl, I am glad to see you have finally admitted your error....... it is still about the kids.
  18. You are comparing professional sports to a youth activity. Okay.... let's. Are you against instant reply too in the NFL? Do you think we should get rid of the 3 point line in the NBA? You could resist. But by not you have proven my point. Drum Corps is about the kids!!!
  19. I never said it was the whole story..... it is the first and most important chapter. You may have scored but not in my book. Volunteer and go on tour with a corps to remind yourself what it was about for you when you marched. If you have then I am concerned about your statements. For you drum corps is about the fans. For me it is about the kids. Who it more important?
  20. 1988 Didn't they go undefeated except for Championships?? "And the winner of the secret draw is......" That idea certainly didn't last.
