  1. Good! Buh bye! Don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

Every since you came onto the scene it's been nothing but bitter fighting, egos, and rallies to get people in your clique. What DCA corps have worked very hard for is being ruined by one person and one person only. You might not realize it but you are. You come around, start something, and play the victim like a true coward. I hear this is your fashion at DCA meetings too.

You are causing stress and personal heartache on two people in the activity who do NOT need it and don't deserve it. You rally up your minions and start the attacks, but in your true fashion you play the victim as always. That's just your style, which is quite clear to everyone on here.

Don't quite consider these as personal attacks, maybe more along the lines of critisism to get you to understand. There are people that are STRAIGHT UP SICK OF YOUR ####!!! Maybe it is time you move on? It certainly wouldn't be a big loss to me.

By the way, you have a very nice corps.

    Quoted for Truth.

  2. To borrow horns from a corps and pretend it's for one corps when it's really for another corps is not only wrong and unethical... it's scummy.

I would feel gross marching in a corps that did that.

In fact, I need a shower just hearing about it.

    Where's the "barf" icon?

I really do not want the Raiders dragged into this. I do not know the how's & why's that brought Sky & Fusion to this point. All I know is my dealings.

I read Lee's blog and I advised him there was a miscommunication between him and the person from my admin team he spoke with. We were approached to purchase our horns by a mutual friend who teaches on the then Sky / now Fusion staff. Originally, I was told the Skyliners were interested in buying our Bb horns. After the verbal deal, I then found out this purchase was for a new corps. I didnt consider myself lied to, all I cared about was obtaining a deposit for the new line. At that point, since the new corps was going to purchase the horns, and I felt helping a new group is the correct spirit of the activity....I let them borrow the horns for their camp.

Just for reference, last month I met with Harry Eldridge and allowed Harry and a few of the Sky admin team to talk to my staff and 18 year olds & up members if they would be interested in helping Sky after our season ends.

I honestly hoped the two corps would field this summer. Then all this drama and hard feelings would have never happened. We need more drum corps, not less drum corps.

    So Lisa..

Given this information, are you ready to retract your obviously misinformed statement?

  3. Where were you this winter Mike? Did you come out and try to help the Skyliners?

    No, didn't think so.

I was there. I saw first hand what Lee tried to do. At least he tried Mike. You're an alumni of the corps. Where were you?

    ----------------------------------------------

Sorry things worked out like this Skyliners. I wish I hadn't had to move across the country to find a decent job.

My personal life really is none of your business, but, if you must know, I do not have the time to be able to commit to marching, nevermind the fact that due to a worsening of a medical condition, marching isn't exactly feasable.

So, jump to conclusions all you want. I'm sickened about what happened. And I lay blame squarely at the feet of 1 individual.

  4. Having been around since the very beginning, I have vascillated between believing the CE forum was a malignant tumor on an otherwise great site.. and believing it was a necessary evil -- and participating robustly in it.

I also know that this particular sub-forum was almost ALWAYS on the chopping block while I was involved in the running of the site. Even when the new ownership decided to allow it to be "self-moderated," it still ate up resources and energy because the moderation of it probably never truly stopped.

I can't say I'll be losing any sleep over this sub-forum shutdown. I think, while the points about a few really good discussions are valid, the forum tragically became a place for some perspectives and opinions which were extreme and in some cases offensive (and that's not to say the owners of said opinions and perspectives aren't 100% entitled to them) to compound on each other and then be repeated ad infinitum until people just began to mock each other rather than actually discuss anything.

    Purposelessly, if you ask me.

I'm not sorry it's gone. People will find other things to talk about.

    Stef

I have to agree with Stef 100% here. CE was always 1/2 second from being cut when I was on staff, and I, for one, am not sorry to see it go either.

Aside to Stef: You MUST PM me the link to that error thing you have in your sig. Thanks!

  5. Winter rehearsal's .. there's no point in NOT using it. Beat the tempo into their skulls until they bleed. Make them wake up 2 weeks after camp with the PING PING PING in their brain screaming for their mommies. ^0^ ^0^ ^0^

    Ugh...

Advil and Aleve made LOTS of money off of me during winter rehersals when I marched..When I played Mellophone, invariably the doctor was directly behind me, and when I played sop, it was so loud to be heard that all I'd go home hearing is PLINK PLINK PLINK PLINK PLINK.

    Must....Kill....The....Doctor.

However, the Doctor is the truth, and the truth shall set you free. 180 is 180, and when you don't practice at 180, it can be a shock.

  6. There are special guidelines for the CE forum. It's at the top of every single page you open in CE. The heavy emphasis is on self-moderation. Whether people want to believe it or not, we pretty much only close threads or delete posts, or even EDIT posts, when they're explicit personal attacks on members or bad language through language filter circumvention. That's the simple truth. Please, read the CE forum guidelines, and feel free to compare and contrast them with those of the regular boards. I bolded some areas that I felt were most relevant here.

    I call ######## here.

There have been times where not only were BLATANT personal attacks ignored, the offender wasn't even given a stern talking to.

But, if other members so much as peep out of line, here, have a vacation.

Its smacks of a double standard, and I, for one, am sick and tired of it.

Self-Moderation HAS NOT WORKED. It is a failure as a policy. The way the CE forums are now is a direct example of how Self-Moderation has not worked.

Time to fix the problem. And, IMO, fixing the problem would be 2 fold:

    1. End self-moderation of CE and the OT forums.

    2. Revamp the staff. I can think of 2, maybe 3 FSTM's who are worth anything. Can the rest, along with the invisible community administrator and start over.

    But what do I know.

  7. (belch)

I'd *yawn* too whenever someone offered a Cabs update............except there's way too many cool people in Cabs and I wouldn't want to offend them. Wish you had the same level of sensitivity.

I respond as a fan, not a member of the Cabs, something that i have not been since 2004.

  8. Anyone who uses those nefarious and ridiculous radial tires on a motor vehicle isn't really driving, and it isn't even really a car. I don't care what your goofy high school driver's ed teacher said -- radial tires are a recent product designed to cut into the profits of inner-tube companies and cross-ply tires, and to appeal to NASCAR fans. That's it. People who use the newfangled radial tires are phonies and sissies.

    Very nice!

    :worthy::wub::worthy:

  9. I am going to add my worthless 2 cents on this issue once again.

Bb instruments are not bugles. Anyone who plays a Bb on the field and claims to be in a "Drum and BUGLE corps"

is a phony, sissy, no brass playin fake who believes everything their BAND teacher ever said in high school.

I don't care if you played a Bb in college, frankly by that age you should have learned to play another instrument

and taken music theory courses to advance your knowledge and skill levels.

Yamaha, Conn-Selmer and the other brass makers are just trying to cash in on a market and have employed a few

mouthpieces to sell their products. Can't blame them for exploitation of another youth market though, they already

molest young minds with alcohol, cell phones, I-pods, energy drinks, tatoos, body pierces and tennis shoes....

So all you Bb proponents flame on and eat me...... :P

    :feednotroll:

  10. Dino's BBQ was good. Although service was a little slow, so order the pitcher, not the single glass. Even if everyone looks at you funny when you do.

Bennigans in the Clarion was alright. If you make figurines out of dollars and leave them for tips and eat at the bar, service was great. If you eat in the other part, service was pretty horrid according to others. And by the end of DCA weekend their beer fridge was quite empty. The food was pretty good too.

I don't know much beyond that as I don't like walking in bad neighborhoods. Or driving under the influence.

We get it Shadow, you don't like Rochester.

There's no need to remind us about that in EVERY thread.

And, keep in mind you can go out and eat without drinking...

  11. No one believes that DCA was out to screw anyone (at least on this issue) What is undisputable is that DCA could have done a better job or as many have said postponed prelims until after the Alumni Spectacular. Anything I think was better than performing in conditions that were the worst ever in my memory. Conditions Mike you didnt march in. This is one of those march a mile in my soggy Dinkles situations. Sorry you just cant relate.

    Au Contrair Dan.

June, 2003. Waterbury show. The show lived up to its name.

As we marched on (not in uniform, as the actual competetion was cancelled, but corps were asked to do exhibitions), the rain was harder and harder, to the point of a monsoon. Jim Russo was in the stands in a white jacket, and you couldn't see him because of the rain. I couldn't see 5 feet in front of me as my glasses were fogged and steamed. So I *CAN* relate to horrible conditions, and have marched in them.

Should DCA have cancelled the show entirely? Possibly. But, if you propose prelims on Sun after the alumni, when do you hold finals? Monday?

    Its lose-lose for everyone involved.
