Mike:
I'm not dancin' the sidestep here, but I don't have the breakdown even though I was in the room. While the discussions could be long, labored and energetic, the actual moment of the vote flies by. Each corps director must vote vocally in front of the assembly, but the tally is taken rapidly.
Alas, I was multi-tasking, text messaging (DCP had the electronic results out there first!), being counseled to regarding off-the-records issues, etc...Sorry, don't know. I'm going to dig further...In fact, when I submit this, I'm going to do it...Update: I just sent off requesting a breakdown.
If I get it, you'll have it! Is that fair?
Fair enough.
I'm kinda still reeling here due the events of the day (Read DCA announcements if you aren't sure what I'm speaking of), but I'll try and check back.

I cannot for the life of me come up with the words I am feeling right now.
He was my friend. He was my Skyliner Brother. And I'm gonna miss him terribly.
*sigh* :(

Until I find out who voted for electronics, my unbridled hatred goes to Hopkins.
I may not hate the other corps, but my $$$ will not go to their souvie table, and I'll tell them why too.
-
Toe height inconsistent tho. I can tick 2 people in this picture for that.
*sorry, I'm nit-picking* :P

What's the only good use for an oboe?
Kindling.
What's the difference between an oboe and a bassoon?
The bassoon burns longer.
Euph's > Bassoons x infinity. (and I don't even play one.)

I was there in the room when the discussions and votes were taken. I was duly impressed by the passion and dedication on the corps honchos. I've read all 12 pages, thus far, here, and I do like everyone's interest.
150 - As a couple of others stated, with older buses of c. 48 now expanding to 55, even 56, some would like to fill those seats. It does allow for more opportunity to participate in corps. The sensitivity of most all directors was clear that they did not want to get into adding another bus, a huge expense.
Electronics - It was predicted to fail. A hush filled the room when it was realized that the vote was a 10-10 tie...then a collective "Wow!"
Cozy:
Do you have the directors breakdown on who voted for Electronics and who voted against it?
-
Maybe we'll actually see some cymbal lines come back?
From your lips to God's ears.
I ain't holding my breath tho.

Stop Complaining... <**>
We need a whole forum devoted to threads like this so they dont get in the way of people who actually want to read about drum corps.
Make it happen mods? :)
This IS about drum corps.
You don't agree with it? Then don't read it.
Pretty simple, yes?
-
*yawn*
'scuse me.
I get royalties everytime you do that! :P
Thanks!

George has all ready stated that he will re-propose electronics next year.
Anti-Electronics folks need to get to the instructors conference and make sure this doesn't get out of caucus.
-
George is on.
-
It's an extra $30k per corps that fills. Don't be too surprised.
I'm not.
I just don't like how Division I treats the smaller corps.
-
Failed.
Vote was 10-10.
Working on finding who voted how, so I can determine how my Drum Corps Dollar is spent.
-
Passed.
-
The Electronic Instrumentation proposal resulted in a 10-10 TIE ....... and therefore FAILED, by not having a majority to win.
Do they have a director breakdown on this vote?
I want to know who gets my money ths year.
-
Wow...150 members passes.
Another nail in the coffin of Div II/III, IMO
-
So, if 15 cadets/crossmen instructors go with instructions from hoppy to vote this way, that's what happens.
Maybe the fact that ALL instructors CAN vote needs to be more publically announced so that some of these proposals get nipped in the butt.
-
Yay for the electronics fail.
Interesting the warm up did...here's hoping flying starts happen again! :)

I wish Sky the best..
But some of these type posts makes one feel really awkward.
When I read them I feel there is a drive to put guilt on some blame on the other. If I was an alumn of a corps and saw this type of post it would not really want to make me come back but maybe stay away from all the Drama.
I dunno that is just me.
Best of luck again.
My feelings exactly.

Somehow, I don't think I could play on a mouthpiece the size of a toilet bowl.
-
only if you come back to the corps dear.
^0^
on CONTRA.Ain't no way in hell I'd carry a contra for any length of time.
Besides, I wouldn't know what to do with a mouthpiece that big.

Looks like good preparation for early September in Rochester to me.
Ladies and Gentlemen we have a winner.
Close the thread, it can't be topped!
-
Is that like bringing balance to the force?
-
There's no way in hades either of those corps finish where they did if they were on G and didn't amp.
Where would you add the 15 additional membrs?

I think DCI should have required all corps to field a cymbal line with the extra people.
