  1. The Saginaires/Northern Aurora Drum & Bugle Corps sponsor NorthCoast Academy. Oh, and if you get a chance, watch our video podcast because there's nothing wrong with shameless self-promotion!
  2. Hi everyone! Whew! Been a while since I've logged on here! On behalf of NorthCoast Academy, we are pleased to announce the NorthCoast Academy Podcast Series! NCA is a Percussion Independent World line competing in WGI and was founded by the Saginaires Youth Organization shortly after Northern Aurora became inactive in 1997. We've been working really hard this year and are really excited to show everyone a little bit more about what we do. We have a very special podcast scheduled later in the season to feature a detailed history of the Saginaires & Northern Aurora drum & bugle corps, so keep an eye out for that! Click Here to Watch the Podcast iPod and Apple TV compatible videos, and previous episodes are available in the iTunes store, just click on the link below the video. Thanks guys, and we hope to see you down the road! -Ross J. Kuhn, Technical Director, NorthCoast Academy
  3. Awesome! I'm ALWAYS glad to see a cymbal line out on the field. Rock those plates, guys!
  4. Just wanted to take a moment to say thanks to all the students, staff members, and supporters who dropped by to see us over the past 8 weekends. We hope to see all of you guys real soon! We'd especially like to thank all of the high school programs, their directors, and their band booster programs for graciously hosting us at their competitions. Thank you! It's been a long couple months of standing out in the progressively colder weather, but it was well worth it; the final count stands at 240+ brochures handed out at the nine Michigan marching band shows we attended. Thanks again, guys! If you're interested in what we're up to over the next couple months, please visit us at steeltownbrass.org!
  5. Hey guys, we're still looking for a pit tech for the season. Camps are held in East Jordan, MI. Carpools are available, and travel expenses are compensated (full if you're coming from MI, partial-to-full travel compensation if you're coming from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, or Wisconsin. Anywhere else, let's work something out!); pay is per camp, and at the end of tour. Possibility of extra compensation if you bring your own students into our membership. Send us your resume ( email to rkuhn@bandettes.org ), we'd love to hear from you! Please visit http://www.steeltownbrass.org for the camp schedule and more information!
  6. Hi everyone! Just wanted to thank everyone that's dropped by so far! Recruiting is going very well for us; we've handed out I think close to 200 brochures in the last five weeks to prospective members, parents, marching band staffers and others in the marching community. We also just launched an online rsvp for the December camp a couple hours ago, so we're looking forward to seeing those coming in! The permanent website is also nearing completion, so keep an eye out for that! Come visit us in the next few weeks at these MCBA shows! October 20th: West Bloomfield High School October 27th: Huron Valley @ Lakeland High School November 3rd: MCBA Championship at Ford Field You can also download our informational brochure by clicking here! THANKS EVERYONE!
  7. STB is a new coed corps under the umbrella Bandettes organization, it's a junior corps, and we'll be Div. III. The corps is still based in the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and like the Bandettes, will have all of our camps in East Jordan, MI (just outside Charlevoix). Thanks!
  8. Oh, forgot to mention! We're still looking for a pit tech. If you're interested, and from the midwest, please email your resume to rkuhn@bandettes.org; this is a paying gig, and we will consider all experience levels. Also, my sincerest apologies for not getting back to the gentleman who emailed me his resume last week; I lost your email when my hard drive died. Please feel free to contact me again!
  9. Hi everyone! This is already looking to be an exciting year for the Bandettes organization! Steel Town Brass is tentatively setting up a recruiting station every week at Michigan Competing Band Association competitions; drop by to pick up a brochure, chat with some members of the staff, and see our G bugles on display! We're trying hard to be at the following shows: September 15th: Novi High School September 22nd: Flushing @ Flint Atwood Stadium September 29th: Trenton High School (tentative) October 6th: Livonia Franklin High School (tentative) October 13th: Madison Heights Lamphere High School October 20th: West Bloomfield High School (tentative) October 27th: Huron Valley @ Lakeland High School November 3rd: MCBA Championship at Ford Field We had planned on having our new site launched today, but due to my computer experiencing a major hard drive failure last week, the site is coming in piece by piece. Bandettes.org has officially been taken offline, but the Steel Town Brass site will feature an extensive history of the Bandettes Drum & Bugle Corps, the last competing all-girl corps. Check it all out at http://www.steeltownbrass.org . See you soon!
  10. That's some graffiti found on a wall somewhere in Georgia. He's hungry for life, and thirsty for Naya!
  11. Hey guys and gals! SteelTown Brass (formerly The Bandettes, now co-ed) is currently seeking a pit tech, a visual tech, and a guard caption head. Instructors of all experience levels are welcome to apply. Pitsters, please send your resume to rkuhn@bandettes.org, cool cats in the visual and guard areas of expertise, send your resume to Don Sheldon at dsheldon@bandettes.org. We're also looking for members with a focus on horn and pit players, but all sections are open at this time. If you're a parent or have a little bro or sis; just as The Bandettes were, SteelTown Brass is a great place for them to get their foot in the door. We'll be launching the brand new SteelTown Brass site in the coming weeks, and will be releasing our recruiting materials and audition exercise books around the same time. The camp schedule isn't finalized yet, but all camps will be held in East Jordan, MI as always. Our 2008 show is nearly completed, so we're ready to fly out the door! Talk to you soon!
  12. Hey guys, just looking for anyone who might've upgraded to VD 2.0 or 2.5 and is willing to part with their copy of 1.0. I'm willing to put up $50 or so, or if you could point me to some place that still sells VD1, that'd be cool too. Thanks!
