  1. I've noticed from going to watch socal corps this year that they all have small numbers compared to corps like Surf,Teal,SCVC, and BDB I guess with so many corps down here its hard to recruit, but you would also thing that with so many high school programs down here the numbers would be alot higher.
  2. In 2004 Strutters from Edmonton, Canada and Allegiance Elite from Calgary, Canada both merged as Fusion with AE uniforms and equipment truck. They went to finals and placed 9th I believe and thanks to the merger it was a pretty good size Div III corps. In 2005 Strutters went inactive and Allegiance Elite placed 6th in Div 3 and then in 2006 Allegiance Elite also went inactive. Last I checked both corps are trying to make a comeback and AE is shooting for 2008. Im not exactly sure about Strutters.
  3. Regardless they still were successful in their yellow Uni's, they dropped a division but won.
  4. I know there not World but Impulse wears yellow and they wond div 3 in '06 so there yellow doesnt seem unlucky
  5. From Yamato myspace page..... Yamato Drum and Bugle Corps will have a booth at the following shows this fall. If you happen to there, stop by and say "maido!" Oct 13 @ Ayala HS Nov 03 @ RCC Nov 10 @ Riverside King Nov 12 @ Valley View Nov 18 @ WBA Championships See you there!
  6. Any video as long as it shows what you wanna be a part of.
  7. In my Opinion it would be better to have 3, yea more money but more effective, I mean i understand where your coming from when you say what does the battery judge do when the arent playing for long periods of time...BUT not all groups have the Battery not playing for long periods of time these days. The judge could miss a great section in the battery because he's listening to the pit or vice versa. Its not something that will hold the activity back if they keep it the way that it is I just think if they change it it will be way more effective and more stuff will get notice whether it be dirt, timing issues, or just straigh up CLEAN haha.
  8. Dont forget althought they are half from Japan, Yamato is also based out of So Cal in Riverside so that would make it 11 corps not counting the 2 drumlines and your Sr. corps and Esperanza was also around for awhile. Also I know like I stated before, that DivIII wasnt very appealing so that also made student from various high school not even consider a certain corps and I know also that the reason SOME people dont like it when their students/kids march Impulse is because they think its a joke, they dont think their kids will get anything from it...I have heard all that stuff before I used to love Impulse and brag about going to audition or wanting to march there and I would just get made fun of for chosing them and even though I totally disagree with that because Drum Corps is Drum Corps its ALL hard work and dedication not just the Big boys....We are all a big family working for a common goal each and every corps out there...none of them go out there wanting to lose, we all want a shot at the glory but in the end were all there for the experience and the family atmosphere!!!!!!!! I hope that makes sense haha it sounded pretty good in my head!
  9. Hopefuly this name change from Div II/III will give people a different view. I know when I would try to recruit and would say Div III people would change from being intrested to not wanting any info anymore. MAYBE we'll see better results this winter during auditions.
  10. Incognito is a winter percussion program from Garden Grove, CA and now Brea, CA I believe but they are adding a Drum corps to their organization this year. And Synergy from what I have heard and know is based out of Orange CA, they started with a drumline this past summer that practiced at the SKB cases parking lot. They decided to start with drums and are going to be adding a hornline and guard. FYI im not involved with any of these corps this is just what I know and have heard BUT I have seen Incognito during Indoor season and I saw synergy at some rehersals and at the HB 4th of July parade
  11. With Pacific Crest, Impulse, Mytikal, VK, Gold, Yamato and the corps that are just starting up who many have probably not heard of such as....Incognito, and Synergy....With all those corps in the So Cal area do you think thats the reason so many corps Have trouble getting members? and were mostly all DIV 3(I am aware of the name change) the last couple of years with the expeption of Pacific Crest. Or do you guys think if some of these corps were in other areas of So Cal they might have better luck?
  12. From the Yamato website Aug 22, 2007 written by Edward Martin Yamato Drum Corps in 2008! Its official! Yamato Drum and Bugle Corps will be returning to the competitive field in 2008! During our brief tenure as tour directors for the Yokohama Scouts this summer, Bobby Ohtsuki and I had several occasions to talk about the return of Yamato in 2008 and plans for the future. Though many details still need to be worked out, we decided to make it official and field a competitive corps next season. Stay tuned for more information! If you wish to receive membership information via email or regular mail, please go to our online registration and complete the form. View comments about our return to the field posted on our Forum.
