Hey -Evortex! I have to agree with Keith! Vic would absolutely love the props you have given him over your 21 posts! (I know I would). But more to your point, there are many Heat Wave people involved. Heck, many of us were going to march Gasparilla until they decided to go junior. So now we are marching/supporting The Sun Devils. We want to keep drum corps alive in Florida. We will support Genesis when they come out and we will support more Florida corps as they start up. Florida is a state rich with talent and opportunity. I feel I am lucky to get in on the ground floor of something amazing. If you live in Florida man, why don't you get with Vic and start something up too? Oh yeah, I forgot something in the press release... The entire brass 2008 musical book will be handed out at the Open House! That's right. Opener - ballad - closer I am extremely excited about The Sun Devils. The kick off meeting was fantastic. We have lots of great people on board already, and we are looking for more smiling faces that are willing to work hard. I will be posting pics from the meeting in a few minutes. (There's nothing like procrastinating at work) GO SUN DEVILS

*****P R E S S R E L E A S E ***** December 9, 2007 Sarasota, FL We are extremely proud to announce that The Sun Devils are a go for the DCA 2008 season! The startup team met today at the corps’ new home, The Sarasota Military Academy, to talk about staffing, budget, and the 2008 production. Several plans were put into motion to bring All Age corps back to Florida. Several former members of the Heat Wave drum and bugle corps were in attendance. They were there to present an incredible gift: their entire asset inventory! Heat Wave is providing the Sun Devils with 40 G bugles as well as their entire Yamaha drumline, AND the equipment truck. The Sun Devils now have the tools in place to come out strong in our first year. A partial staff was also formed today as well: Executive Director / Co-Program Coordinator: John Hoekstra Brass Arranger / Co-Program Coordinator: Mark Cole Brass Caption Head: Keith Hall Brass Tech: JD Roseboom Percussion Caption Head: Doug Beard Visual Techs: John M. Johnson Alan Mundy Congratulations to John Hoekstra, the first Sun Devils Executive Director! John comes to The Sun Devils with years of drum corps experience both on the performance and leadership sides of drum corps. More on all the staff / management positions will be released in a separate press release. In our first year, The Sun Devils plan to travel to several DCA South shows, culminating with DCA finals in Rochester, NY. This effort will primarily get funded through the hard work of our members through fundraising at sporting events and convention work. With travel planned, our inaugural show entitled: “The Last Samurai” will feature works from the movie soundtrack. The Last Samurai has moments of tranquility and moments of extreme intensity, all of which will be portrayed on the battlefield of competition. The Sun Devils kick off meeting was a great success and we look forward to our first Open House on January 13, 2008 from 1:00pm-5:00pm.
