New day heading towards a new season. Out with 2023 drum corps season, moving on to 2024. But before i look forward i and many of us still have many days ahead to still reflect on the Incredible 2023 season; on all the shows that was produced and performed. The level of talent across the board was impressive, the competitive nature of the young members were fierce and magnificent to watch. The return and battle for 12th in top 12, the rise of The Mandarins from previous 10th place to 6th. The return of Cadets, The resilience of Cavaliers, The battles of Troop, BS, Colts. The incredible designs and battles between Phantom, Mandarins, Cadets. The Spectacular show down of the top 4; BAC, BC, CROWN, BD was unmatched and thrilling, and the 21st victory of the BD Undefeated streak from 2022 to 2023, technically they haven't lost a show since finals 2019, which is another record in the history books. What would ya'll like to individually like to see Blue Devils explore for the 2024 show. Should it be a conceptual, and what kind of concept ? Should it be purely musical, and what musical genre would you like for them to explore ? Should it be another arts show ? Should it be light heart , or Dark themed ? Should be Story telling ?

With so many great colors guards, what do we love about them and who will be on top? Which guards enhance the overall production the best, which are staged well, and which are the best written (unique, impressive & musical choreo)? Who is the most consistent and who is the most entertaining? I love color guard and there are so many great groups this year! Starting with the obvious, IMO- It will be the performance and consistency for Zingali between BD and BAC. Their styles are so different, and their programs really highlight the section. BD has literally created trick tosses we haven't ever seen and move so beautifully, Boston always has an insane skill set and show so much strength while still being effortless. Those 3 judges during finals week better have a microscope out there to see what both groups are bringing to the table. I have much so much more to say about all other groups, but I'd love to hear what y'all think!

Has anyone seen or heard of the 2006 Bluecoats movie/documentary Throw it Down? I have it on DVD and I love it so much. My band director Joe Beitman was in the documentary and was the Bluecoats drum major that year. If you have seen please let me know your thoughts on it, and if you haven't go buy it! It does a better job than the "Clash of the Corps" show does.

The New York Skyliners are setting up camp at the vibrant American Legion Post 80 in Binghamton, NY, this upcoming weekend on January 27th and 28th, 2024! American Legion Post 80 sets the stage for an unforgettable camp experience and returns our corps to its American Legion roots and founding. Saturday's rehearsal will be brass only with check-in starting at 10:30am. Rehearsal will be conducted from 11am to 8pm. Sunday's rehearsal will be our full ensemble with brass, guard and percussion with check-in starting at 8:30am. Rehearsal will be conducted from 9am to 3pm. American Legion Post 80 is located at 76 Main St, Binghamton, NY 13905. Please be sure to allow enough time for travel and to be safe on your journey.
