G_Bass
I would go with King, Kanstul, or Dynasty. I believe the Blue Devils march with Dynastys. Kings are really good with marching horns, Kanstul has proven the same within the past few years, and, well, you march on a Dynasty (I assume) and you like it. And always be looking on Ebay!
Shadow_7
Talk to your corps management, you might be able to purchase the horn you're currently using at a fair price. Unless you're wanting something new. I'm not sure why you'd want one new, a season or two of marching band and it'll be not new, although you'll know exactly where, when, how each and every dent got there. And you're out at least 50% of the purchase price if you ever want/need to sell it. Unless the rent is outrageous, or you need a horn to practice on between school years. You might be better off renting a horn. There were a few army bandsmen that used their personal horns for gigs. Until one day one of their horns got injured in route to a gig(a significant dent in a trombone slide), and the army refused to fix it, since it wasn't army equipment. I imagine schools probably have a similar policy. Why risk your goods when you can risk theirs. Other horror stories about music stands flying out of the back of personal vehicles and being required to purchase said stand, or at least an equal or better replacement stand since it didn't fall out of an army vehicle. Plus the personal liability issues of whatever else the stand hit/damaged on the way out. And there was one time in college when my horn was in someone elses car that got broken into and the horn got stollen. Because it was a school horn, I wasn't liable for the replacement costs. Although I really like that horn, and didn't much care for what the school replaced it with. If you make it out to nationals you should spend some time at the booths to try some out. If you have the resources, you might even be able to reserve one of the demo horns for purchase at the conclusion of the event at a fair price. Just a thought. Many corps offer up their horns to be purchased, so check their websites. Find a local one so you can skip out on shipping and pick it up in person. eBay works too, although you never know what you're gonna get until you get it. Feet Guru
Don't buy, unless you can get one for pennies on the dollar. You probably won't use it again after getting your Music Ed credits. Some people on here might give you grief for liking a Dynasty bari, but don't listen to them. In college marching band, it really won't matter. Mouthpiece: Whatever you like playing. Again, in marching band, it won't matter. F. G.
