Prairie Sound Salvation Army Kettle Results.

Recommended Posts

Finally something went our way.

We met at the Olathe Hy-Vee Grocery Store on 119th and Ridgeview in Olathe, KS and played 6 different selections. O'Christmas Tree, Silent Night, Deck the Halls, Little Drummer Boy, Hark the Herold Angels Sing and the State Song of Kansas "Home on the Range".

We had Zero produce thrown at us so I guess we played well enough for the cause.

We performed with 2 Sop Players, 1 Mello/Flugal/Sop, 2 Baritones, One Contra Bass and One Drummer on Snare. This numbers proved to be good enough to carry out the mission for the Salvation Army. We went into this performance with no group practice and stated out a little off but came together in about 10 minutes and ended up sounding pretty good. I noticed people putting bills in the Kettle when we started to gel as an ensemble.

This was the first time Prairie Sound Drum & Bugle Corps has played in public.

Our members had fun and we are looking forward to playing at Wal-Mart in Olathe on Saturday December 15th. The shopping traffic will be much heavier at the next performance.

Stay tuned to this thread for our next Kettle Report.

Thanks,

Jeff Dancigner,

Prairie Sound!

  • 4 weeks later...

Our Second Salvation Army Performance did not go as planned. first off My unit and myself were deployed to Topeka, KS with FEMA to deploy generators to several Kansas towns that lost power to utilities due to the ICE Storm. Second, the weather men and women were predicting 7" of snow for the day of the performance. I didn't think it was worth risking any lives for this performance since a good protion of the players live outside the KC Metro.

Hey Tom Breen here.

I'm Director of Brooklyn United Alumni.

I also work for the Salvation Army as Facility Manager Bay Ridge Bklyn, NY.

I'm the kettle coordinator for Bay Ridge.

Was hoping some of my D&B corps would come out this Saturday.

75th Street 5th ave Noon till 3pm beautiful Bay Ridge BKLYN.

I work this corner with a crew & we brang in over $500.

We have a kettle by 2 corners & then myself & Skippy hit the car.

YEP the street is where the money is.

We call it tagging.

Keep up the good work.

I'll forword this to my crew so maybe they'll bring some horns or money.

God Bless

Merry Christmas

We will plan the Kettle thing a little different next year. We will hit the outdoor sites in November and do indoor events in December. If we have more local brass players we will do some night gigs at the Kettle.

Jeff.
