I actually don't mind that at all, the corps works hard and wants to be acknowledged for even the little things. As a spectator I encourage all type of enthusiasm from anyone in the crowd. Talking, however, I do not put up with; this is disrespectful. Sometimes crowds are just, dead. So any applause IMO is good applause.

There are appropriate times for cheering though. You wouldn't go to a ballet and clap and hollar when the pair on stage join hands, would you? Same thing should apply at a drum corps show. If the guard does a daring toss with great success, then by all means, whoop it up! The crowd will too! It's a moment that warrants applause. But let's face it.... a unison horns up in the ballad is no reason for crazy cheering. Use common sense, that's all I ask.
