Yeah, I like Phantom as much as anyone . . .but 2009 left me wondering what happened. Shaw wasn't given a lot to work with last year.

The jazz section feels extremely forced, and the whole thing just comes off as a very weak variations on a theme.

I really can't remember the last Regiment show that left me this cold; even when Phantom dipped a bit in the mid 80s and early 2000s, the shows were engaging musically.

Hopefully with some new visual blood and a good book to work with (haven't heard the Kamen yet), things pick up a bit this year. I could care less where Phantom places, but when they fail to entertain or engage me at all . . .it's still a bit of a shock, really.

Thanks! Glad you loved it. It was by far, the hardest, most grueling tour of my career. But that audience reaction at the end made it so worthwhile.

It was one of my first drum corps shows I ever saw in my life in 2003. It just stuck on me since then.
