The Optimists Alumni host Legends of Drum Corps 2

Recommended Posts

The Optimists Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps are pleased to announce the Legends of Drum Corps 2 show in Toronto on Saturday August 28th, 2010 at 6:30 pm. Last years inaugural show in Oshawa ON was a great success and with the last minute move this years show will now be readily accessible to an even larger audience. Our quick research suggests this is the first drum and bugle corps field show in Toronto in the last 20 years.

In performance are

Toronto Signals Band

Midlanders Alumni Corps

Simcoe United Alumni Senior Drum and Bugle Corps

Preston Scout House Alumni Band

Optimists Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps

This years show is bigger and better but still a great bargain with General Admission only Canadian $10 (no taxes) with children 12 and under free. Tickets are available at the door or contact Mike Lang at mike.lang@sympatico.ca (Tel) 416-436-2323.

We are certain you will enjoy the new venue at St. Michael's College School (details on parking etc to follow). There is also an after-show event we are planning which we expect to announce shortly.

UPDATE:

WOW!!! over 300 tickets flew out of the door for pre-sales in the first 72 hours. It's a good thing this stadium holds over 900 people it would be a shame to see anybody left outside at the gate on show night.

Tickets are still only CDN. $10 each (no taxes) and future drum corps fans (12 and under) are free. You can either get them at the gate or contact me (Mike Lang) at either mike.lang@sympatico.ca or telephone 416-436-2323 (leave a voicemail if I'm on the phone and miss you and I'll call you back).

Drum corps is set to make a triumphant return to Toronto (you don't want to miss it).

It's Official the After-Show Party is ON!!!

Last year at the inaugural Legends of Drum Corps show The Optimists Alumni hosted an after-show party for the performing corps. Anybody who was there will tell you we filled that hall from wall to wall and had the rare opportunity to spend some quality time together like we rarely ever have anymore.

This year we've gone one better!

Immediately following the Legends of Drum Corps 2 show we are inviting everybody (performers and audience) to join us in The St. Michael's College School cafeteria which can be accessed just beyond the gates where you will be entering to see the show. The room is much larger than last year and we would love to see it filled as well.

There will be food and drink (for all ages) available so save a few dollars from your investing at the souvenir tables to join us. You'll see old friends you haven't seen for a while and have an opportunity to meet new friends that share this love for classic drum corps.

We are working on one more feature for this party that we hope to announce shortly (it's really kind of unique).

This will be the final drum corps show in Canada for Summer 2010 so we intend to do it up in style.

Make sure you plan to attend the 2nd edition of the Legends Of Drum Corps Show. This all Canadian show features Canada's finest Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps including the legendary Preston Scout House and the Toronto Optimists. These corps along with the London Midlanders were some of the winningest corps in Canada & the US. Toronto Signal Corps relives the Military Pomp & Precision of another era. Also included are the Simcoe United Drum & Bugle Corps a composition of several well know southern Ontario Junior Corps. The Price is right the new venue will provide an exciting evening of 'IN YOUR FACE DRUM CORPS'

August 28 - St Mikes College School - TORONTO

Wrong.

In 1995, there was a show held at the C.N.E.

In the early 90's, a number of shows were held at Birchmount Stadium.

Hey Geoff

No doubt you are 100% correct but looks like you're going to miss the first drum corps show in Toronto in the 21st Century (you could probably still catch a last minute flight in to see it).
