hostrauser
Here's the newest batch... These rankings are compiled based on what each corps did score or would have scored on every day of the preceding week (Friday through Thursday). * THIS IS NOT A STRAIGHT SCORE COMPARISON. * THIS IS NOT BASED SOLELY ON EACH CORPS' MOST RECENT SCORE. Just because a corps had the highest score in all of DCPI on Thursday does not necessarily mean they will be at the top of the rankings (particularly if they scored lower earlier in the week). * The formula is based on seven days-worth of performances. On days when a corps does not perform, they will receive a "ghost score" based on the scoring trend across DCPI. Ex VK DM
And here are the updates OK I have a question and would like some feedback. In case of ties I've always used the World Class ranking as the tie breaker, but this weeks rankings got me to thinking. Would it be better if the tie was broken by the lowest ranking corps between the 6 corps, and if we still had a tie then go to the world rankings? Case in point Elite Youth Arts Asso. would have the tie breaker under the current way of doing things even though Hydrargyrum Music Org. would, in theory, have a title but loose the Org. of the Year race. Had another thought.... in the final rankings Class Champions get a "0" point value so HMO would win the title anyway. But there may be other ties where a title isn't involved, so I still would like to know what you guys think.
hostrauser
Since the Org Rankings are based on the best score of all three, the first tie-breaker should be the best score of the best two, the second tie-breaker the best placement of each Org, and the third tie-breaker the best placement of the World Class corps. The goal is to award the best organization, so as large a sampling size as possible should be used. So, in this case... Rankings: Elite (15) and Hydra (15) tie Tie-breaker #1: Hydra's best two (1+3=4) defeat Elite's best two (3+4=7) Elsewhere in the rankings, Knights of (1+7=8) and CRASS (5+7=12) are in the correct order, but Knight Org (3+8=11) should be ahead of Glory of Music (4+9=13) Hypothetically, here's how it could pan out down the road... Scenario #1 Org X has corps that finish 7th, 2nd, and 4th in World, Open, and A respectively. Org Y has corps that finish 3rd, 3rd, and 7th in World, Open, and A respectively. Rankings: Tied with 13 each Tie-breaker #1 (top two): Tied with 6 each (2+4 and 3+3) Tie-breaker #2 (top placement): Org X wins, 2 (in Open) vs. 3 (in World or Open) Scenario #2 Org A has corps that finish 1st, 3rd, and 5th in World, Open, and A respectively. Org B has corps that finish 3rd, 5th, and 1st in World, Open, and A respectively. Rankings: Tied with 9 each Tie-breaker #1 (top two): Tied with 4 (1+3) each Tie-breaker #2 (top placement): Tied with 1 each (World for Org A, Class A for Org B) Tie-breaker #3 (higher World placement): Org A wins, 1 vs.
hostrauser
The Top 11 Orgs this week, out of 33 possible corps, hold 30 of the 36 total finals spots across all classes.
Ex VK DM
My guess of the 36 spots, only 15 directors make finals.

hostrauser
I honestly don't think it's that complicated (Top 3, Top 2, Top 1, Top World), I'm just a windbag.
OTGFP951
This early into the season I don't think a tie is a big deal. If in the final rankings there is a tie, it should be broken by the highest average score for each organization. So add up the scores for the World, Open and A class corps for the Org. and divide by 3 and the higher score takes it.
