Armyscout
Grand Rapids, MI was pretty packed full, you could barely find a seat by the time Troopers were on.
drumwizz78
Any idea of what caused the impressive increase, Tom? 10 year anniversary of The Academy, coupled with a better show lineup. BD, Cadets, Phantom, Vanguard, Blue Knights, and Academy is a heavenly line up for the forgetton west coast fans....
littlebirdy
The Mesa, Arizona show was sold out on the front side. They even started selling tickets to the back side for $5. Tons of takers.

Tom Brace
Any idea of what caused the impressive increase, Tom? Some people are going to hate this, but I believe getting 1/2 of the G8 REALLY helped our attendance. From a show sponsor's perspective, getting 6 World Class corps with four of them perennially in the Top 6 including last year's World Champions, really matters to drum corps fans. We also marketed with a different message to our typical late deciding and walk up crowd. Our call to action was about urging fans not to wait. Our word of mouth was great. Our area HS Band Directors and Booster Clubs helped get the word out. The scary part...when we are all done getting the numbers, we didn't spend much money at all on marketing. There's an article in DCW out today second guessing our choice in stadiums. Frankly, the metro Phoenix area is devoid of great medium sized stadiums...like NIU for instance in DeKalb. ASU Sun Devil stadium is not affordable and the point of a drum corps show is...to make money for the corps. So, we maxxed out the stadium we had. We had over 500 people on the backside. I know they didn't get the best view, but we were glad to have them come and enjoy their evening with us for $5. Not a bad deal at all when you consider the line-up we had. Pit_Girl_77
Whitewater last night looked to be a bit more than 1/2 full, hard to tell because there were lots of band kids that performed first then joined the stands, and lots of folks in the lots/concessions during all parts of the show. Great crowd-lots of standing ovations and cheering :) We have not hosted our shows yet, but ticket sales for Dubuque is very similar to the past few years and the crowd has been great. Waukee (Des Moines) is tracking better than last year and we are getting lots of phone calls in the office for info and tickets. We have almost 2000 tickets sold and mailed already for the show in Olathe Kansas. We ran out of tickets for Kansas City last year, a great problem to have :) This year we have a bigger stadium, more concessions, more parking lots. and all that good stuff. Should be enough room for everyone, but if you are picky about where you sit I would suggest getting your tickets ASAP as I am running low on everything between the 30 yard lines.
