ajlisko
Who says drum corps isn't a 12 month event? ... case in point is the BHOF/St. Kevin's show yesterday in Boston that featured a boatload of talented I&E performers including stalwart members of Boston Crusaders Sr, the Defenders, Bracken Cavaliers, Pembroke Imperials and others ... prec ensembles, led by the Skyliners Alumni Drum Ensemble, included Standish Guard, Legends and the Misslemen ... some competed ... some just performed ... all were wonderful ... a bonus performance was provided by the Everett HS drum ensemble, who played their 2014 routine as a "tune up" for a competition they were attending that evening ... they were spectacular ... AND BIG!!!! ... I was not prepared for the size of this group of HS kids ... outstanding to see what's happening in the HS arena ... The Alumni and Mini portion of the show was also LOADED with talent ... the Marksmen's Mini Corps was well recieved ... full (and I do mean FULL) size corps from the Defenders and Crusaders Sr. were very impressive ... and this is March (one of the 12 months of the year) ... but, the corps that stole the show ... IMO ... was Capital Brass from Albany ... man oh man ... what a thoroughly entertaining group of players ... solid from start to finish, regardless of the genre they were playing ... range and control ... power and finesse ... and that set drummer! ... fuggettaboudit!!!! My thanks to Gary Brown and St. Kevin's for allowing me to MC this gala event ... if you weren't there, you missed a great opportunity to see some class acts ... in what's considered "off season" ... nothing "off" about these performances ... just like there was nothing "off" about the performances at Sky's show in February (one of the other 12 months) There's three more of this type sow on tap ... April 5th in Buffalo, NY ... April 12th in Springfield, MA and April 26th in Bridgeport, CT ... DCP has several threads pushing them ... Get to one of them if you can .. you will NOT be disappointed!!!! :-) ps - BFDTV filmed the whole show ... contact them to see how you can get copies Edited March 23, 2014 by ajlisko
