DWilliams
Hey Guys! I'm shooting to march with the 2015 Blue Knights and I'd love to hear your personal first-time audition stories. No matter the corps I'm interested in hearing it all, from visual block to the selected solo piece. Thanks! :-)
ibexpercussion
It has all changed so much since back in the 90s when I marched. Man that was over 15 years ago...I feel old now! Best thing to do is understand the technique the corps uses: Musically understand the technique for your specific instrument especially for percussion, Visually understand their marching style so you can adapt quickly, or be prepared ahead of time. Other than that, be prepared, teachable, positive, open-mided, and energetic, and the talent will take care of itself.
JKT90
Don't really have a story, but if I were auditioning today I would focus on the post above this one. In addition: Get your nerves in check, just relax and if you mess up it doesn't mean the end of the world, they are gauging talent and potential and they know you may be a little on the nervy side. Get use to moving while playing...Carolina Crown for their horn auditions - they are moving, they do not play standing still. Get use to moving and playing, cause you're gonna be moving a lot. Have a positive attitude, and most of all Enjoy it!
