  1. Hoping your family gets some answers this week, and praying for everyone as well.
  2. A handful of my favorites... Crossmen 1992: Songs for the Planet Earth Blue Devils 2004: The SummerTrain Blues MIX SCV 1989: Phantom of the Opera Bluecoats 2022: Riffs and Revelations Crown 2011: Rach Star
  3. Good catch, but will be really hard to predict. Coming off of a year in which they did not field a group, and may have lost many of their better members to other groups it could be a tough year competitively. Again, just predictions, but we will see.
  4. I am going to do this a bit differently, but still predict rankings. -Blue Devils 1st-2nd (because until they finish lower than 2nd, how can you think otherwise) -Bluecoats 1st-4th -Boston 1st-4th -Crown 3rd-5th (I feel like they need an improvement design-wise in relation to the musical book and program theme, seemed to be a disconnect on that this year) -SCV 3rd-6th -Cadets 3rd-7th -Blue Stars 6th-13th (I know this is a wide range, but if you are not one of the elite 4 or 5 at the top, it is hard to sustain the success) -Cavaliers 5th-10th -Mandarins 6th-10th -Phantom 6th-11th -Crossmen 10th-14th (Need to have a more accessible show to bring up the GE scores. There seemed to be a disconnect there this year. The kids did everything they could form a performance standpoint). -Blue Knights 10th-14th -Troopers 11th-14th -Colts 11th-15th -Madison 12th-16th -Music City 12th-16th -Pacific Crest 13th-18th -Academy 14th-18th -Genesis 16th-20th -Surf 19th-25th
  5. 1) Crossmen (homer...yes, but also have two former students marching there this year) 2) Bluecoats 3) BD 4) Boston 5) SCV or Troopers
  6. Groovin' battery percussion, someone screams "_________________ drumliiiiiiiine," then a single ding, and the group ends in a question mark drill set.
  7. That is 1,000,000% correct. Writers/arrangers have gotten increasingly creative in the production of the percussion books (battery and front) at all levels (high school, WGI, and DCI). It is always interesting to watch videos on YouTube, etc. to be able to dive deeper into what is being played and see what is actually in the book. It is even better when one of my high school percussionists shows me a video and then you can point out different rudiments, and hybrid rudiments, that are being utilized.
  8. If they did every 3rd or 4th group, that would work for me. And also, I'd like it to be their corps songs, or traditional encore pieces (or pieces specific to that year, as Genesis had the perfect encore piece) instead of replaying 90 seconds or so of their show.
  9. Lane Summerlin is leaving Crossmen after 5 years with the group.
  10. We could all go into exact placements, but I think if this year was judged Boston would've won with the groups that were in Indy.
  11. I think for many organizations providing the opportunities for the members is what is driving the idea of doing "something" in 2021. At the same time, I completely understand the idea of saving money for 2022.
  12. I plan on attending, but seem to think this year will be a glorified exhibition event and not really a contest/competition. Which could be really exciting as far as what corps may try to do this year for their repertoire, and possibly bring back some classic tunes.
  13. What will the trolls and d-bags who like to criticize (many without any real experience in drum corps) and rant and rave about this or that.
  14. I guess putting out statistics and numbers, everyone just created their own narrative about what the numbers were saying. I posted the numbers just as a point of reference, with no bias one way or the other. They were literally put there as stats. Nothing more. Nothing less. But by all means, go ahead and assume what I meant, and reacting to the post.
  15. FWIW: Per the Johns Hopkins Website... COVID-19: Approximately 2,708 deaths reported worldwide; 0 deaths in the U.S., as of Feb. 25, 2020. Flu: 291,000 to 646,000 deaths worldwide; 12,000 to 61,000 deaths in the U.S. per year.
  16. The one year I couldn't go to prelims and semis, I had no problem finding a buyer for those nights.
  17. Best case for Finals Week tickets, is to order the Super 3 during Finals Week.
  18. Hardimon, "...the drum knows about them." Fantastic quote.
  19. Hopefully this is not a rehash of an old thread, but what do you look forward to most during the Drum Corps season, besides the obvious of the actual groups shows and performances? For me, it is the once a year friendships that I have developed with fellow fans over the years. There is a couple dudes who my buddy and I met several years ago during finals week. We sat in front of them, and all of us kept hearing the others making comments similar to the other pair. We struck up a conversation during the marathon prelims day, and every year we get back together, grab a meal or two together during the week, and pick up as if no time has passed. It is an odd friendship, in the fact that we do not talk much, sometimes at all, until Finals week the next year. Even in years when our seats are not next to each other, we seek each other out, and pick back up. These are the types of things that make this activity more than just the performances on the field.
  20. The first part 100% agree. Second part was based on the fact that we literally meant, "You Eat After..." with the other corps under the YEA umbrella at the time. I have to imagine that the new peeps running the organization aren't going to be treating any entity within YEA as lesser than.
  21. Agreed, because for years we said that YEA stood for "You Eat After the Cadets"
