Loud-is-good
As a euphonium major, the most important thing I've learned to sounding good is proper conceptualization of tone. That is, if you think about how you want to sound before playing, and have a good idea of how a euphonium SHOULD sound, you will sound infinitely better than if you just pick up the horn and start blowing. One of the best ways to learn to conceptualize a proper sound is to listen to recordings of professional euphoniumists. Steve Mead comes highly recommended.
