How come so many corps got penalty points?

Ok, concerning the penalties.

All corps (expect Starriders and Woelper Loewen) recieved a 3 point penalty for playing music (Drum Line) after the first member crossed the 10yard line after the show. DCG has a rule that when a corps leave the field they have to stop music before the first member cross the 10 yard line.

This was explayed before the show, but still 4 corps made this mistake.

2 corps recieved a 5 point penalty for overtime. Starriders and Showband Rastede had (like all other corps) 17 minutes from entering the field till leaving the field (minus the time of the stadium anouncment).

Hope this explains the penalties. But this penalties might be easy to fix for next contest. AND I'm shure it will be a realy hot season. Not only the hunt for the titel, all places from 1 till 6 will be hot. The overall level of the corps increased from last year to the benefit of the audience.

All shows were fun to listen to and worth the money.

shure and it seems that really a lot of corps will come to DCE Finals. My idea would be to take Top3 corps from England, Holland, Germany and do a real European Championchip.

That'd be great, have a "Masters" competition with the top three from each country.

Maybe round it up to 10 by including the winner of a similar competition for smaller corps (A/Cadet Class etc).

I'd like to see that happen as well. I live in Mannheim, Germany and haven't had much of a Drum Corps experience over here. When and where will the next contest be held?

Hi tmilligan,

there is a Drum Corps in Mannheim. Small, more like a Mini-Corps but good people. The corps is called Heartliners. 3 members of them marched last year Brigadiers Brass and one guy marched with me New York Skyliners.

This year they are a parade and concert corps but will do a Stage show next year.

Next contest will be 4. Sept. in Gevelsberg (near Hagen in the Wuppertal area)

Finals will be 19. September in Hameln, that's near Hannover. But for shure there will be a convoi travel from Mannheim to both events.

Great to have DC people in Germany. There are more than you expect.
