  1. DCA is also welcome. Or? Greatings to Canada :-)
  2. I own a G Willson Euphonium. It's a beast. Heavy as ####, but a sound wowww. You need a european shank mouthpiece. I use a Shilke 51C4. I bought it from a german drum corps who switched to Bb for a really fair price.
  3. Wow, what news? You guys are great! Europe will be fun for you. The DC Fans will be amazing. There are more fans than you expect. Germany will contact the officials asap. Shure you will get all the support. And don't worry about the beer. There is more than enough here. The corps are smaller, but they know how to party. Lesson in teach german: Absolut kein Problem. Here is lession Nr. 1 One beer please. = Ein Bier bitte! I'm hungry. Ich habe Hunger. Where is the next bar. = Wo ist die nächste Kneipe. more later ... Yippiaeyyyy
  4. Wish Empire would do a Trip to Europe again, to show the folks here what All-Age Drum Corps is. Come on Europe is worth a trip again.
  5. Well, usually it took me 4 hours drive from my hometown to Berlin Airport. Take a flight to New York or Montreal 10 to 12 hours. Drive from somewhere to Syracuse. Basically I had 24 hours travel time. This I have done in 2001 with Sky and 2005 with Brigs and hope to march again in 2007.
  6. Harrold, it will be fun having Juliana on the field this year. Starriders will have a smaller hornline, too. But we improve and try to compete against our friends from Holland. It will be fun and I still remember back the "fighting years" where we battle on the field in competition. Oh man. That was fun. Keep up the good work. Drum Corps in Europe is becomming bigger and better year by year.
  7. I "marched" with a german ocal brass band starting with 12 years till the age of 20. Then go to University. With 25 I join a local Parade Drum Corps for one year and was totally infected by Drum Corps in 1996 watching DCI in Orlando. 2 months later I join the Starriders Drum & Bugle Corps after asking my girlfriend and now wife to march 1 single season. OK I marched 1997 till 2000. 2001 I had the honor to become the very first german particapant of the DCA Finals marching with the New York Skyliners. 2002 and 2003 again with the Starriders. 2004 off and 2005 I marched with the Syracuse Brigadiers. 2006 I'm on Visual Staff with the Starriders Drum & Bugle Corps.
  8. A third page bump. Hope everything is fine in Brigs-Land. Show sounds amazing. Sorrowly I will not be able to come to the banquett. We have camp that weekend here.
  9. My DVD set arrived one week ago !!!! And I live in Germany :-)
  10. Damon, we should increase the European Factor this season. Moulin Rouge is a pure European thing.

  12. This show is amazing. This vehicle seems to be a real champion vehicle. Good for Brigs. Can't wait to hear the first snips of music. Are the tunes Wayne will use already choosen? Please bring "El Tango del Roxanne". It's an amazing tune for this power house hornline Brigs will definitly field in 2006.
  13. Daniel, for shure we are not marching 130 members (18 Bass Drums :-) ), but we will fill all instruments witch are available. Everybody is hyped for next season. Something very special is at the fence and we will be a real force in 2006. Watch out for further reports. There will be a lot of news comming the next weeks.
  14. Where can I get a CD with the unplugged version. I love the show, but I dislike the speaking. So I really wanna have this version for my archiv.
  15. Starriders Open House Workshop big success by Oliver Grimm More than 130 people from all over Germany and the US participate last saturday in one of the biggest Open House Workshops ever held in Germany. After the introduction of the staff and techs the group by Corps Director Kerstin Schulz started with a huge M&M block. Basic infos concerning body posture and Marching technique was teached by Volker Tonn (Colts, Kiwanies Kavaliers) and his crew. All participants worked really hard. The goals where high and related with a lot of muscle pain, but in the end everybody overfullfilled the expectations and were happy. After a short lunch break the sections splitted apart. The brass worked in sections worked on basics and learned "America the beautiful". The Drumline also have done a lot of rudimental technique and learned a groovy cadence. The guard section was leaded by 2006 Co-Section head Melanie Schiebler (Crossmen) and Monika Horn. Also this section had a lot of fun to check out what Starriders and Drum Corps looks like. The Pit worked hard on different kind of basics and exercises. At the end all section presended their results in front a of lot of spectators in the Abraham-Lincoln-School of Bad Muender. After the official end of the Open House Workshop, there were a big Season-Off Party in the Starriders Hall. Everybody was happy with this day of fun and hard work. Everybody will take home new impressions and ideas for their work. This was definitly not the last Open House Workshop of the Starriders - next year same place. Starriders are looking for a extremly promising 2006 season. The goals and expectations are high and a highly talented group of international Arranger, Staff and Supporter will do everything to make this comming season to a hugh success. A lot of members will return and a lot of new members from all over Germany and the USA already gave their commitment for a pure champion show. If you are on the fence, become a Starriders and discover "The Blue Ball". The 2006 show "The Blue Ball" will be the journey around our mother planet earth painting all the different continents in musical colors. Green represent the Europe with bulgarian choir music. "Kaval Sviri" will give the audience goose bumps and will be the opening highlight. The Starriders will then travel to the blue continent North America. The easy, cool and jazzy way of living will be reflected in "Summertine" by George Gershwin. Then the Drums Solo brings us to the the yellow painted Asia. Expect a Wall of Sound and Drums. The last station before the return the journey brings us to South-America. An sultry Tango is the heartbeat of the people on this red continent. "El Tango de Roxanne" brings the show to the climax. But is this all? Definitly no. You will see next summer.
  16. Hey Brigs, it's so boring here in Germany. Can't wait for the weekend. Big Open House with a huge workshop for potential members. Yeahh DC is back. Take care.
  17. If the DVD didn't work on different Players it is sometimes a question of the media. If you have a computer with a DVD burner, grab the DVD and burn them on a different media. F.ex. my DVD Player has an serious issue with DVD+R medias. DVD-R work perfect. If the media is fine and the video still stopps during playback, maybe your computer is not strong enough to handle the bitstream. Use a convertion software to reduce the bitrate. The reduce the video quality a little bit, but the playback will be better. Conserning the autoring (menue, etc.). With standart software it's nothing to create a professional presentation. 100 US$ or 87 EUR is a lot of money and I espect 100% quality. I the DCA is not able to find a company who can do this kind of product. Well bad for them. They lose a lot of money. I made a DVD out of a mid-quality Mini-DV Video recording, during the pre-Finals party by watching the video. It took 20 min. OK, maybe BVP provide me a copy of the original tapes and I make a Collectors Edition out of it.
  18. Bump from somewhere. Hope everybody in Brigs-Land is fine. To back in normal is tuff. Fortunatly I got my "DC-Metadon" here. DCG Finals 2 weeks ago, DCE Finals last week, indoor taptoe tomorrow. So tomorrow the season is definitly over. Done!!! But what will 2006 bring? WWS - We will see! Take care
  19. Keith, Schlossgarde are down to nothing. Lot of problems, changing in staff and management. Not that nice stories to spread around here. I know that Mani isn't in responsible position, but that change really often. Hope they will be back on track in a short time. As far as I know they are not competing anywhere and I'm not shure if the rest of the crew is able to perform in street parades.

  22. You are right ther was an organisation called Drum Corps Deutschland in your time. This organisation went inactive in the early 90s. In late autuum 2001 a group of DC people brought all active marching corps to the table and founded Drum Corps Germany. 2002 was our first official season with contests and finals. Since then Drum Corps is growing in Germany. We are still small especially in members on the field, but the people work with heart and passion. We are all-age and some corps has members service their 25 season on the field in a row. We hope DC in Germany will grow and become mor known than in previous years. Check out the homepage www.drumcorps-germany.de Any questions? Feel free to contact me directly. Oliver Grimm President Drum Corps Germany
  23. May he now play in the greater corps in heaven with all of his buddies who went there before.
