drumzx
I want to make my own sound projectors but have been having trouble finding the material. I think it's like a 7 mil thick vinyl material but I don't know where to look! Any suggestions?
ACustom19
I would definitely check out Home Depot or Lowe's on that one. I think they probably would have sheets of what you're talking about...Good luck with that Steve!
drumzx
Anth, tried both but without luck. Maybe I looked in the wrong department. Moyer used to get it from a plastics company but it became more and more difficult. He finally stopped trying. I'm thinking the stuff is 7 mil vinyl but I can't be sure. I wonder where Pearl, Yamaha and all the other companies get their stuff. It's a bit frustrating. . .
DRUMMER
You could also try an arts and crafts store. I know there is a big one on rt 22 H-Burg at Target and Kohls in that strip mall. They have odd stuff like that. Good Luck on your search. Greg Lee Lebanon High School Percussion Instructor/Arranger
drumzx
Hmmmmm. . .okay. . .I'll give that a shot. There's a Dick Blick on my side of the river. I'll check there first. . . Thanks Greg!
wells84
a cheap way .....get a few peices of poster board..draw then cut out the shape of the scoop......put on a graphic if you want ...then have your teacher take it to the school office and have it laminated..... cheap and you can put fun graphics on them. drumzx
If all else fails, I'll give that a try. And who's picture is that on your avatar?
scvfan
The laminate method works quite well for cost and durability. The avatar is Brittany Murphy by the way.
drumzx
I did order some material from a company. . .it's a polycarbonate, 1/16th of an inch thick so I should be able to cut and shape. It's supposed to be very tough. . .sadly, it's clear. But if I don't like it or it doesn't work, I'll give your idea a shot. Brittany Murphy huh. . . . Yum! I'm hooked!
