ffernbus3
Talent ran deep in that family. I didn't know Jim or Bonnie all that well as they were NorCal and I was a "SoCal just moved up there" in 72. All the young arrangers knew who each other were though. Like being the new gunslingers, in the days before computers our reputations literally traveled on the winds. I dropped out of corps in Aug of 72 to do other things but it sure was fun being in the mix that last year with the likes of Jim Ott and Wayne Downey and sometimes sit across the table from those guys discussing the nuances of brass arranging and technique and just drum corps in general. Who knew in those days that those guys would become literal and well-deserved legends? We were just "Excitable Boys" in love with drum corps and, secretly, I think as we were learning, it was much easier to arrange for bugles than for the whole the whole darn orchestra! Yeah......good days. RON HOUSLEY Happy to have gotten my little piece of it all and happier still at the success of others.
