Emerald Regime announces 2005 program

Recommended Posts

Emerald Regime is proud to present its 2005 program, entitled "Traffic" The program will feature the original music of the corps director Matthew J. Smith "Stop, Warning, and Go", and promises to control the audience visually andmusically. We have some new faces on our visual staff, and we have kept some of our long time visual staff, so this promises to be a great product this season. You will definitely feel like you are on Sunset Blvd. in the chaos of the southern California traffic when you engage in this show. Look for our signature "Traffic Jam" designs that will be hidden throughout the show.

The musical selections are divided into four movements. Movement 1, "Traffic Jam" starts off with slow chords building on top of each other, with the mallet percussion playing a minimalistic passage, then trading that off to the hornline who will split the minimalistic passages and play fast paced moving lines over the ensemble. You can expect the drill to do exactly what the the title of the piece is depicting, but in a much much more safer way. Movement 2, "A Drive Down Rt. 66" comes right out of the first movement, as each movement blends into one another, but has more of a romantic feel to it, you can hear the winds of the cars passing you by, you can hear the distant horn honking of cars and trucks. This movement gives the hornline a chance to show off their visual package with ballet dance movements. Movement 3, "Signals", will feature the percussion section; anvils, mallets, tyko drums, etc... the drill in this selection is written as if the band is performing to traffic signals. Stop!, GO!, Walk!, Yield!, Detour!, yes, we have thought this through, and you will definitely like how this journey ends. Movement 4, "Time" will use a faster paced tempo, with lots of angular drill, and pass throughs. These performers are going to depict the tyranny of waiting in traffic, the need to get to the destination. Suddenly...It all stops, and they realize they are just where they started.

Stayed tuned into the corps new website which will be posted soon. We will be posting camp videos with every section being presented.

We at Emerald Regime, know you will enjoy our 2005 production.
