It was a hard up hill battle, but after parading, exhibiting, opening car dealerships and hospitals, Heat Wave hit the competition field in 1997 as the South's FIRST corps to compete at the DCA World Championships in Allentown, PA. Automatically becoming a crowd favorite, Heat Wave has gone on to be a Class A powerhouse in DCA, capturing the title in 1998 & 2003 and being a Class A finalist in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002 & 2003
