The more instruments you're comfortable with, the better :) Yeah. Range is hard to build. It takes a while....I'm talking like if I was a professional at this :P but I am a quick learner. So yeah, it's "easier" to build the your range on a mellophone rather than a trumpet. I say that because they are pretty similar in relation to technique.
