Bleu Knights Press Release

End of the Season – Finals Performance

3/9/2007

The Bleu Knights organization experienced everything a drum corps member could dream, and then more this season. The corps managed to maintain a high level of excellence throughout the season, even when they were considered “lower end of the pack” they still pushed until they hit their surge toward the middle of the season. Bleu Knights are known for starting off “so-so” and then really pushing in the middle, and then building up to the end.

The Bleu Knights had some great performers this season, and it showed in their ability to earn high color guard, and general effect at most of the shows they attended. They also cleaned house at a few shows they attended. It certainly helped having some of the people from Cascade Christian join our ranks!

“I was a little worried when we heard our prelims score, and then found that we were in 8th place…It was almost the end for us. Luckily our semi-finals performance was enough to put us more than just IN finals.”—Becky Matthews (baritone section leader).

Becky has been with the corps since its beginning in season 4. Every season, the corps manages to get through and really creep up in the standings—I am amazed that this organization seems to find its way in the same situation every year. Last year the corps placed 10th in prelims, 8th in semi-finals, and went on to earn 3rd place overall in finals.

We were just happy to be here and make it to our 3rd straight finals performance! Consistency is the key, and we have established ourselves as one of the premier DCPI corps, regardless of division.

Congratulations to all corps this week, and we hope to see everyone again. This has been the most competitive division II competition since the inception of DCPI—and we hope it gets stronger. Bleu Knights have no intentions on competing in Division I competition, as we like the atmosphere of Division II. Next year, the corps will also be doing a full tour, and will be taking more members. We plan on marching 3 drum majors, 72 winds, 32 colorguard, 16 battery, and 12 pit for a total of 135 members. Since DCI has added 150 to the equation, we feel we can add to our family.

Stay tuned to the Bleu Knights as we will be announcing our show and staff within the next few weeks!

See you on the field!
