cccmommy
I don't think Tim Meehan had any solos in BD in '88. John had a couple including a good camera shot in Goodbye Yesterday. John was the soloist in Herlem Nocturne in "87 as well.
Tapper7
John and Tim are the sop soloists in 89's "Ya Gotta Try" http://youtu.be/xoghJMPnCkU John's featured soloist role set the stage for power-houses like Scott Steward, Roland Garceau and Sean Billings ....Tim's solo in Fiddler - '92 Santa Clara ....SO SWEET! You just don't hear that kind of style anymore ... Everything a west-coast hornline did from the 80s till.. today is heavily or indirectly related to Jack's program. My Kanstul has the marks on the tuning slides, in measured increments on the main slide (plus the tune-any-note kicker)...Jack's tuning-system may not be in use too much but we used it at VK. John was a consultant in 04. I'm honored to have stood in a line led by him. This clip has....like half-a-million views. John Meehan...in control. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EDIDCdy5Es "Through The Years" is one my favorite CDs," it includes some of favorites like Evita, Tenderland, Russian Xmas, Phantom, Carmen, Miss Saigon and Tim's solo I mentioned from Fiddler: https://store.scvanguard.org/cds/ Concord has a nice service for streaming , downloading or ordering shows and tracks: http://bluedevils.org/mediabox/index.php?module=audio&season=1989&tagID=0&assetID=10866 Great topic...btw
