heavyrifleguy Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 After the sad news about Rich Rogers, I have another bit of bad news for the Crusader family. I talked to Les Johnson today and he told me that his brother Tom Johnson passed away over the holidays. Tom was a rudimental bass drummer with us when we won the American Legion National Championship in Portland, Ore. in 1965. Anyone who saw us in '65 will remember Tom and Jerry Ferguson doing "their thing" on rudimental bass while Dave Jackson wailed away on the timbalis-[i probably spelled that wrong!]-during the drum solo before "Still Of the Night". RIP Tommy! Quote

Cru2u Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Dear Les, It has been a Horrific Day and this news just adds to it! My deepest condolences on your loss and remember as a kid watching your brother just wail his cahunas off!!! at 10 years old, I looked up to Tommy and the rest of the guys from that year as superstars and got me hooked on this wonderful fraternity we call DRUM CORPS!!!!!! May he rest in peace and have a Hoot playing in God's Drum Corps! Quote
