zep Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Ok so i was talking to my friend and he said that he saw an open core (he doesn't know which one or what year) that tthrew a frisbie across the feild at one point in their show and a tenor player caught it. Does anyone know what show this was? Quote
84BDsop Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) 2006 quarters...Capital Regiment. Pretty #### good toss, considering not only the distance across the field, but the wind during the performance....definitely a DVD moment for the tenor player! Given those conditions, tho....I wonder if it was planned to go to him or just flung out there and whoever caught it caught it....pretty impressive while wearing tenors, too! zep Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Thanks a bunch! appriciate the help! Corps/core who cares lol pronounced the same XD Quote
musicislife26 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Cap Reg was DIV I that year placing 16th. The whole toss was planned, and was just as much written in as 8 counts of guard work or a crescendo in the 2nd mello part at bar 23 in the ballad. The toss was successful in both 1/4's and Semis. At the Cap Reg homeshow a few days before (Artistry in Motion), the toss was dropped, but the quick thinking tenor player took off his drums, did a few push ups put his drums on, and finished the show. At other points in the summer, there was a mini football game around the same time as the toss, complete with a "hail mary" toss of a small football that at one show almost hit the snare line in the middle of a feature. There was also talk of a kite flying across the back side line. Trust me, I would know, I was there. That was a great part of the show, and fun to watch everyday. Ultimate frisbee was played regularly on tour to unwind, and I watched that frisbee fly over 80 yards straight as an arrow by the thrower after practice just for fun! Quote

That reference goes way back.... that was back in the days of open class/A-60 which, if the info on fromthepressbox.com is accurate, hasn't been the case since the end of the 1991 season. thanx i'm familiar with the history.
