JTarka Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Hey, Brass Players! If you are still interested in marching a BRASS spot this summer for DCI, there are still a few available spots open at Pioneer Drum & Bugle Corps! Our March Camp is the weekend of March 12-14th, so come check it out. You can get more details about the camp at http://www.pioneer-corps.org/index.php?opt...&Itemid=125 Hope see you at our March Camp! Sincerely, The Pioneer Family P.S. Even if you're not sure if you'll be able to march this summer, Pioneer still encourages prospective members to come to a camp, so that they can get a feel for the corps and learn about our organization. Donny Drum Corps Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Nice job Ms Tarka. BTW she is our cymbal tech and a great teacher in her professional life as well as in drum corps and winter percussion. I will get even more specific than Jen. We are currently looking at fielding a considerably larger horn line than past years. The potential numbers in high and mid brass dictate this will be the case. We need more low brass players to balance the top end. A number of baritone and a couple of tuba spots are available to right musicians that are willing to work hard for a position. Pioneer travels on the World Class tour all summer with every camps in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Aspiring music teachers that are woodwind or percussion players and need a basic approach to brass pedagogy do not be afraid. If you have been cut from another corps, we do not discriminate. Next camp is in Milwaukee on March 12-14...bus service from O Hare and Mitchell airports and a friendly atmosphere await you. PM on here with any questions, please. FHdork Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I must say, Pioneer brass has been sounding very nice for a number of years. Good work, folks! And you DCI wannabees: don't let your DCI years pass you by as you wait for Cadets or Phantom or Madison to beg you to come to their rescue...get out there, march Pioneer, and learn how to BE a DCI World Class Corps member. THEN you can move over...if that is still what you want (which you may not...you'd have to leave all the new friends you will have made!) Quote

Donny Drum Corps Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Thanks for the support. We have been trying to allow the program to grow as the last few years seem to validate. This years program is another step in the evolution I hope. We did get many vets to return which is huge! A good majority of the staff has committed to returning on the brass instructional end. We have spent much more time on designing a show that we hope people will talk about in a positive way. We have consultants with some heavy names involved in the design process. The new uniforms look great! Winter camp turnouts have been the best in the corps history, however we have to balance the brass line and we do need low brass players for that to occur. I have not reached out as of yet for cut lists, but that is another step that I will take. I agree, why sit on the couch with your laptop reading DCP all summer when you can get some experience. Hopefully you will like it here and stay until age out...many do just that, and they could make it anywhere. The ones that go, do much better with the training they got here. Look back and get the number and make the call! Enjoy DCI this summer by being a part of it. Comparatively the dues are very reasonable and payment plans can be made. Donny Quote
JTarka Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 Thanks, Donny... You're the best! You've helped the hornline at Pioneer grow to what it is today, And I'm sure this year you'll push them to even greater success! Thanks to everybody else for your support on this thread... it is much appreciated! Quote
Donny Drum Corps Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I know that Adam still has way too many drummers and of course if a student still wants the experience if they dont make the drum line, we will put a horn in his/her hand...but ideally if we could find some real low brass players I would jump for joy. We are not that far off of our goal for brass numbers at all. It is those low brass players that are holding out this year. I actually have had a few bites today because of this thread and facebook. Oh yeah facebook Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps for more information and contacts. DA Quote
