  8. It was an amazing night for all competing in Rotterdam. In reference to BlackStar's post it was good to see the judges brave enough to put it out there and give credit for the performance. Our performance in finals was a massive improvement on our prelims performance, hence the jump in score. There were some great performances from everyone out there and I want to congratulate everyone that competed on Saturday. Memories for our corps and membership that wont be forgotten - ever. Peace
  9. Hi, I'm trying to contact Drew Schneiders, pit arranger. If anyone has a contact for him could you possibly pm me with it. Peace
  10. Thought I'd give people a bit of an update from the UK. In DCUK the Senators, from Eastleigh remain undefeated after the first 5 shows, of which they were at 4. In 2nd place and improving well are the Kidsgrove Scouts, from Kidsgrove. Results and recaps from the latest DCUK show, Leicester In the British Youth Band Association things are close at the top in division one between the current leaders, Northern Star, from Leeds and the Forgemen, from Sheffield. BYBA's top division has oinly 4 corps competing in it and the four corps have met only once, in the most recent show in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, where Northern Star, the reigning champions came out on top. Results from the latst BYBA show, Academy Magic Recaps from Academy Magic In Drum Corps Europe the latest show was in Kortrijkt, with special guests the Blue Devils. From the European contingent Beatrix, from Hilversum, NL, came out in front, beating their close rivals Jubal, from Dordrecht, NL, by just over a point. The Brits are also represented in Europes top 5 by Kidsgrove Scouts at 3 and Northern Star at 5 although 3-5 are very close and Northern Star rceived penalty points which lost them a place. The 2nd half of the season opens up on September 3rd with a DCE show in Dordrecht, NL, then DCUK on 4th at Grantham Town, UK and in BYBA also on the 4th in Baghurst, Hants.
  11. My "opinion" if you have to write an unnecessary screamer into the show, it shows a complete lack of creativity. It's like saying, "well, we need a reaction here. Since were not doing anything visually and I can't think of something cool to write for that reaction, hey Joey, can ya hit a triple z for me here? Sweet!" Rocketman - some things never change ampssuck <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So now Wayne Downey's not creative because BD have a few screamers/solo's through the show?

  14. http://www.dcuk.org.uk/news/news_32.html The 1999 DCUK champions Cadence, from Reading, have announced their decision to go inactive competitively for 2005.
  15. I don't believe there's any real benefit of one over the other. I would guess that if there were it would probably be in favour of matched because of the amount of finger control you have. It's gotta be down to a preference as to which you use. For example I use trad primarily because I prefer the way it looks. I do agree, though, that to get to that tru mastery of an instrument that we all aspire to you should be able to play everything in both matched and traditional, just the same as you should be able to play with left or right hand lead. Peace.
  16. I'm trying to track down the sheet music for this. My line is gonna need some cadences as we have some parades this year and I'd love to play this. (It's actually the first time we've had a line for a couple of years as well!). Anyone know where I can get it from?
  17. I'm trying to find some music for a keyboard ensemble but can't find anything any where!! I know I can get via people like TapSpace but my problem is I need it a little quicker than they can get it to me!! Any ideas? cheers
  18. I'm trying to figure out the stick for the couple of bars just after the double strokes. There's a stick fick or some backsticking from what I can see but the sticking is different to what is in the Fresh Perspectives book. I think I might have it but want to see if anyone knows for sure. cheers
  19. Hey groovers, I'm looking for a copy of this massively influential document by Mike Stevens. I had a copy but can find it nowhere so if you have a copy please email it to me!! peace :)
  20. Do any lines still use Premier drums? I know that years ago loads of lines used them but more and more people seem to be turning to Dynasty these days? If anyone does how do you find their customer service? Over here in the UK in recent years it hasn't been the greatest, just wondered how you guys fare on your side of the pond? cheers
  21. The 2nd half of the DCUK season got underway yesterday on a hot day in Grantham. The open class results were as follows: 1: Northern Star 69.7 2: Forgemen 68.4 3: 37th Kingswood 63.7 4: Poynton Commodores: 62.7 High Brass: Northern Star High Percussion: Northern Star High Visual: Northern Star High Guard: Forgemen Overall Effect: Northern Star
  22. A great atmosphere at Wigan's Robin park Arena meant a great day of drum corps in DCUK. The results were as follows: 1: Senators 70.8 2: Cadence 66.5 3: Kidsgrove Scouts 65.2 4: Northern Star 59.8 5: Forgemen 58.2 6: Black Knights 54.0 7: Poynton Commodores 50.5 Captions: High Drums: Senators High Brass: Senators High Visual: Senators High Guard: Kidsgrove Scouts Overall Effect: Senators
  23. IMO Vancore gear is not that great. Over here we've had vibes and marimbas from them at my corps and they don't really hold up that great to the Drum Corps arena. A lot of corps in the UK have probably tried them at some point due to the cost and location but the majority have probably gone back to something else now. We had some shocking service from their supplier as well. They're probably not too bad in a concert environment but for Drum Corps I think they'd probably be a bad chioce. cheers
  24. OK, I admit it. The aim of updating the site more last year went out the window. I seemed to enjoy my freetime a little more than expected lol. britdrums.com has been updated now. Theres not an amazing array of new things just yet but the designs been updated and the results etc and there are some wicked pictures of Senators from their recent preview weekend and some vintage shots of the great Sunrisers lines of 96/97. As ever the forums are there so get involved in some decent discussions for a change (fair warning - BS won't be tolerated!). If you have any photo's, sounds, stories or whatever make sure you let me have them. It's a site about you so the more involved you are the better. I am also on the lookout for news, pics and sounds from international lines for a new International section so feel free to send me anything you got. cheers and see all you DCE guys Sept 27th! peace
