  1. I don't know if the above is true BUT what I do know is that UCLA did that exact thing to USC at the coliseum in the 80's. Gordon won't talk about it if you ask him, but some of us managed to find a document "reprimanding" the UCLA band for it from one of the university officials (if you read the note, however, you'll find gems such as "all offenders should say 100 Hail Marys" and "grass is our friend") .
  2. Hmm I can't really remember any exact details except for that I was ###### off about how rude people were around me... BD's show really just flows from beginning to end and I can't distinctly remember where their closer started But it was... how should I put it... very BD-ish. Hopefully I'll get a better look tomorrow when I watch the DCI broadcast from Stanford Yeah people were definitely cheering for the sheer volume of it
  3. I was at the Rose Bowl sitting at around the 20-10 yard line and there were A LOT of people there just for fireworks. It seriously bummed me that people would be super disrespectful to corps and people trying to actually watch the shows by talking or standing up IN THE MIDDLE OF SHOWS. The family sitting directly behind me was talking almost the entire time :( As for the corps themselves: Pacific Crest: I like their show this year, but definitely needs some work in the cleaning department. Design-wise, I like how the hornline is singing at some points in the show and it really adds to the tribal nature of it. Drums were strong and I really liked the features for the snares, tenors, and basses respectively Academy: Their ensemble is very good musically in the technical department but I feel like their show is very disjointed (as many have said). There are impressive hits but I feel like 3 ballads is a bit much. Santa Clara Vanguard: Of the five corps, I liked their design the best. The sound is very esoteric but it doesn't cease to entertain. The opening hit gives me goosebumps every time! I just can't wait to see their new uniforms and to see a little more color from the guard (haha see what I did there?). Drill, however, definitely needs some hardcore cleaning which they have a month and a half to do :) Phantom Regiment: Best hornline of the night in my opinion! Their mellophone section ROCKS. Really love how their guard gets involved with the other corps members in terms of acting out the fight scenes, especially the drum major who I suppose is the Emperor. Blue Devils: Definitely an air of confidence whenever they take the field. All sections of the corps are performing their butts off and really sell the show. I almost feel like there's too much going on at a time and definitely need multiple viewings just to get everything (this was my 3rd time this season too!) All in all, it was great being able to see the corps again after yesterday when I saw them at Vista. It's just the people who aren't Drum Corps fans really ruined it for me (also the parking situation and getting in and out of the stadium was a real pain). I hope the members didn't take too much offense from the rowdy nature of the crowd
  4. Yeah I was jokingly implying that the shirt image was a photoshop of drummers from last year, changed to have darker pants to match this year's uniform :)
  5. I always thought there was something suspicious about their drum shirt. Note the match grip and lowness of the drum, and compare to a camp picture from this past memorial day camp: http://www.scvanguard.com/history/gallery/...=&currentrow=14 I think it just might be a photoshop of a picture from last year :P Nonetheless, that got me thinking, what if SCV went to dark red pants? ... nahhh
  6. What do you mean you wish there was a Vanguard one?? haha the vanguard cadets, and the a-corps use all the same moves more or less
  7. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=65...+clara+vanguard enjoy :) note: it gets better about halfway through
  8. Bit off topic, but did anyone notice the "marching soldiers" sound at the beginning of the third movement (4:45-4:50)? I don't know if that's what it's MEANT to be, but it's what I thought of. Kinda cool if that's what it's meant to be. If not, then it's still cool anyway!
