  1. I'm a big fan of SCV. But I really prefer when they play the classics (Russian Christmas music, On the Town, Appalachian Springs, etc...). Not that I wish for the old days.... it's just they play them SO WELL. Isn't that a little strange? I see SCV as playing classical americana, Phantom as playing tchaikovsky and Gershwin (I love you Spartacus!), and Garfield as Bernstein. While the Blue Devils are a Jazz monster, Spirit of Atlanta is bluesy Southern, and the Cavaliers as the "modern new stuff" approach. I guess I'm just used to knowing a corps by its sound. Pity that difference has also diminished so much.
  2. It was 1981 for the Argonauts. I played a piston/rotor french horn in 1980 before becoming drum major.
  3. Argonauts and the Argonne Rebels... er... wait. That doesn't work...
  4. corps from Kansas. I don't want to hear anyone singing "Dust in the Wind".
  5. Bob, that's not bad. I've pansted many an M&M instructor... but that's for a more "adult" thread.
  6. Yes, but Wisconsin is the state that's known for it. Scouts, Kilts, Racine Scouts, Blue Stars, Capitol Sound, Twilight Knights, Chippewa Valley Brigade, Americanos, Capitalaires, Kilties Jr, Kiltie Kadets, Knights of Pythias, Holy Name Cadets, YMCA and Kiwanis Kilties, Knights of Columbus, St Lucy's Girls, Sons of Veterans, Skokie Indians, Boys of 76, Zephyrs, Celtic Cadets, 32nd Hussar, Ambassadears (Racine), Ambassadors (Hurley), Bangor Falcons, And the Black Hawks. I think that's more than 20.
  7. Darnit! I MISS Wisconsin being the center of Drum Corps!
  8. Well THAT makes sense. Too bad the music isn't really melody based. :)
  9. You know how you have to get an artists permission to play his tunes on the air? Well, I give you all my permission to play any argonaut recording from 1980 through 1987, as it was ME playing the music, not DCI. Feel free to distribute any of these recording as you please.
  10. Don't lay blame? You proceded to tell us why we should. Let me summarize what you just said... "There isn't enough interest in selling you legacy recordings, but if you have your own legacy recordings, we'll sue you for copyright infringement." Ridiculous!
  11. I was just yanking your chain! It's an Apu Quote from the Simpsons. My next post should have read... "I can't believe he will not shut up!"
  12. Come on! It's a bunch of kids marching on a field playing some tunes! It's not pirated Madonna or Led Zepplin! We put wayyyyyyyyyy too much thought into copyright issues when all these kids wanted was for people to hear them play.
  13. That's like saying you can't take a picture of the Empire State Building without express permission of Empire State Insurance. You can't paint in HUGE letters your name and expect people not to take pics.
  14. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Actually, the more time you give DCI to release recordings = the more times DCI can say "we lost them".
  15. Hello Darrin! My good friend! I miss you a lot! It's good to see you on DCP. Still living in Portland?
