Actually, that is most definitely the USMC Silent Drill Platoon in the TV commercial. There's no 'rule' that they can't appear on tv, there's just that one example in "A Few Good Men" where the A&M Fish guys played them for a movie. Sorry to ruin an urban legend.

It'd be awesome if this took off. I bet the USMC Commandant's Own will serve as great role models and inspiration for these kids. I've wondered about something like this for a while. Doesn't NYC have the Brooklyn Afterschool music program that breaks down into the "Brooklyn Steppers" showband and also a drum corps?

A few questions for any members of the Commandant's Own: Is there a "camp" for the new members to learn all the basics? What is this process like? Have most or all members been involved in the DCI world prior to joining? What is the living situation like for single members? With over 400 engagements a year, do you get time off? Thanks in advance for any replies!

What is the deal with the Commandant's Own and Yuma, Arizona? Do they "train" out there for part of the year or what? I know they are based in DC, but they do go out to Yuma every year or something like that. If anyone knows, let me know! Thanks in advance!
