  1. According to the one article, the YEA BOD hired the law firm that represents them as the "independent investigator" to investigate the allegations against Hopkins. They should have hired someone completely independent of all parties involved to investigate and not their own lawyers. It's highly unlikely you'll get an unbiased report when you hire someone you pay to protect you to investigate criminal allegations made against you.
  2. I'd like to thank everyone who purchased videos from my Drum Corps Videos website for the benefit sale I'm doing for Chuck Quackenbush and Donna Haas Morgan. I would also like to apologize for those of you who wanted to pay with a credit card and were unable to do so. The shopping cart is currently set to only accept Paypal payments, but I also accept money orders as well. The sale ends on March 31st, so there's still 7 days left if you didn't get a chance to place an order yet. Whether you use the discount coupon or not, all of the proceeds from the orders I get go into the benefit fund. I only take out enough to cover shipping. The way I look at it is, people are buying the videos because they want to help Chuck and Donna and these are not sales that I would normally get. So, all of the proceeds should go to them.
  3. My apologies to anyone who had a problem trying to use a credit card to purchase videos on the website. At the present time, the only payment options are Paypal and Money Orders.
  4. DrumCorpsVideos.com - 50% Off Sale on all videos. Use coupon code - BenefitSale I am running a 50% off sale on my drum corps videos website to raise funds to help with uncovered medical costs for two people in the drum corps community. The first is Donna Haas Morgan who was recently diagnosed with brain cancer and the second is Chuck Quackenbush, a Blue Rock alumnus who was involved in a serious auto accident on November 8, 2014 and is still undergoing treatment. All proceeds (minus shipping costs) from sales made on the website between now and March 31, 2015 will be donated towards helping Donna and Chuck. The sale is the perfect opportunity for people to purchase historic drum corps videos at half price and at the same time, help these wonderful people. Thank you!!!
  5. On November 8, 2014, Blue Rock alumnus Chuck Quackenbush was seriously injured in a car accident on the New Jersey Turnpike. He nearly had to have his left arm amputated from the elbow down, but so far the surgeries he's had have helped avoid that. He's in for a long road to recovery and will require more surgeries. An account has been set up to collect donations to help cover costs that won't be covered by health insurance. If anyone is interesting in making a donation, you can find more information here: Friends of Chuck Quackenbush Thank you! Chris Haas drumcorpsvideos.com

  15. It is with great sadness that I pass on the news that my father, Charlie Haas, passed away on January 3, 2009. My Dad had been battling leukemia for the past several months and was just admitted to the VA Hospice in Lebanon, PA on December 29, 2008. A viewing will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home in Lebanon, PA on Thursday, January 8th. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9th. Exact times for the viewing and services have not yet been determined. As some of you are aware, both of my parents were very involved with drum corps in the 60's and 70's. Up until the time she passed away last February, my Mom, Jackie, often spoke of the time she and my father spent video taping in those early years. My Dad had many fond memories as well and up until just a few weeks ago, he and I would talk on the phone and he would share some of the stories he and my mother spoke of throughout the years. My Mom's death was sudden last year and was a very difficult time in our lives. My Dad's illness lasted several months and even though we had some time to prepare for the inevitable outcome, it is still difficult to believe that he is gone. He is with my Mom now and no longer suffering and that is perhaps the greatest comfort of all. Chris Haas
  16. Thank you all for your kind words and for thinking about us at this time. It means a great deal to us and I know it would mean so much to my Mom. Drum corps was such a significant part of our lives while we were growing up that so many of my childhood memories are intertwined with the activity. Both of my parents loved being involved and being able to video tape so many shows, but their involvement went beyond the video side of it. The very first drum corps we were involved with was the Pennsylvanians. Before he passed away the director of that corps, Earl Kitcherman, asked my mother to make new uniforms for the entire corps. I remember the parade of kids in and out of our house being measured for their uniforms and I remember seeing all the uniforms my Mom made hanging on racks in our house. I also remember that as a kid, we didn't take our vacations at the shore like the rest of the kids in our neighborhood. Our vacations were spent in an RV at the World Open and the Danny Thomas Invitational so my parents could video tape the shows. Everything we did as kids revolved around drum corps and it wasn't unusual to have an entire drum corps packed into our living room watching video tapes. It was a time my parents cherished because when circumstances took us away from the activity, my parents held on to the tapes they had left and carted them across country when we moved to Colorado and then back again when we moved back to Pennsylvania. After that the video tapes were preserved for over twenty years until my Dad was able to convert them to VHS in the early 90's. I remember when he started that project because my Mom said he spent all of his time in his video room working and she rarely saw him. It was a painstaking project but something both of my parents wanted to do. A few years ago, after my Dad converted everything to DVD, my parents handed the whole thing over to me and asked me to continue making the videos available to the drum corps community. It is their legacy and something I am very proud to carry on for them. It was a time in their lives where they could actually be involved with what their kids were doing and not just stand on the sidelines and watch. When my sister Donna and I joined the Skyliners in 1992 I think my parents were more excited than we were because once again they could be involved with drum corps. And even though by that time video cameras were quite common, my parents came to some rehearsals now and then to tape us and my Dad would video Sky at prelims. And in 1994, 1995, and 1996, my Dad and I put video yearbooks together for the corps using some of the video footage he had and hundreds of pictures supplied by the corps members. My father and I would be holed up in his video room for a few days and my Mom would pop in every now to make sure we took a break. The video year books were something both of my parents were excited about because it was again another way for them to be involved with drum corps. Thank you again from all of us for thinking about us and about my Mom at this time. I think one of the things that drew my parents to drum corps so many years ago was that it's more than just an activity, it's a family. No matter who you are or who you march with or who you compete against, in the end, everyone is family.
  17. 1972. I marched with Blue Rock that year and of all my drum corps years, that was the absolute best!
  18. I was shocked and incredibly saddened when my sister called me with the news of Sean's passing. I had the pleasure of knowing Sean and marching with him for five seasons. He was the ultimate Skyliner and such a sweetheart and I know he will be missed by everyone. Bob, Carol, Stacey, and Jeff - my heart goes out to all of you. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Godspeed, Sean.
  19. Just a reminder that Historical Drum Corps videos from the late 1960's and early 1970's can be found here DRUM CORPS VIDEOS Thanks!!! :)

  21. Some of you may remember that a few years ago, my parents were offering drum corps videos from the late 60's and early 70's for sale on VHS format. They discontinued the sales because the master copies on VHS were wearing out from use. My father recently converted everything from VHS to DVD and then turned the entire operation over to me. Everything that is available is listed on our website: Drum Corps Videos These videos are all in black & white - no color. Everything you need to know can be found on the website. If anyone has any questions, feel free to email me, my contact info is on the website too. Chris Haas
