  1. is that supposed to be sarcasim or something? lol
  2. wait so you're saying how can you say they have no competition or whatever, but then at the same time you say you'll have to wait till the summer to prove it to them. Have you even seen academy? If not you can't prove anything. And if you look it seems as though most people that say Academy will win are people that have seen them before, as being the guy that you were talking to in your reply. All the east coast people say they aren't gonna have an easy time...but how can you prove that? have you seen them perform?
  3. yah wasn't the same cord used in the 04 show and 05 show? :)
  4. i think we'll have a better sense of who could do it after the first competitions....
  5. ok good atleast someones understanding :) and yah but there were people in here talking about camps that some corps had 140 or something maybe a lil more about how the groups would have no problem fielding a full corps, so yah thats just why i brought that up...
  6. yah i know they probably will, but im talking about other corps that i was reading in here that had a lil over a full corps... cause i'd rather see other div 2 corps with smaller numbers but better talent, then bigger corps with not as good talent...
  7. well i figured everybody knew what that was, since it was a pretty big website that A LOT of people went too, but i guess it wasn't that popular...
  8. the site....if theres a "little surprise" wouldn't you want to go check the site out? lol :) but i hope it means that they are close to getting back up...can't wait to see!
  9. well i agree with that and this year not really being too different for academy, but what about these other corps that people aren't talking about much, but you hear about tryouts that have about a lil over 135 members show up to try out. just because a group wants a full corps doesn't mean that say for example all the people that show up (140) are so good that they are gonna only cut 5 people to have a full corps. do you understand what im trying to say here? (its kinda confusing) but are these corps risking only cutting 5 people to have a corps that might not have the talent level that they might have if they cut say 20 or 30 members. cause theres the saying you are only as good as your weakest player... so yah just food for thought...lol
  10. we'll just have to see what happens, cause what if theres only talent for maybe 100 members and then they just want a full corps so they add those other members?
  11. but which ones will actually have the talent with those full corps and which ones have a full corps but not good talent? thats what we'll have to wait and find out...
  12. So i was checking out drum corps websites and what not as usual, and Academy had their first tryouts and it seems as though things went well...
  13. technically anything over 95 dB for an extended time isn't good.....so yah...
  14. nobody seemed to answer my question on the last page...hmmm why not? can east coast corps not come all the way out Cali? is there some excuse for it or something? and if i remember correctly when i was in the theaters for the quarter finals or semis whatever it was for DIV I, they showed a preview of the DIV II/III winner and i didn't think that the winner was all that great. When I saw Academy out in Cali I thought that their show was much better than what i heard/saw in the theaters that evening...i thought they had a much more mature sound as do the top corps in DIV I...But i'd like to hear the opinion of someone who saw both academy and the DIV II/III winner...is there anybody out there?

  16. ok well we all talk about corps packing up and having to head east and they aren't gonna do it, blah blah blah its gonna be hard on them....well why does it have to be just going east? have you ever thought about the corps from the east coming out to the west? so heres the question...how would the corps from the east handle coming all the way out to cali? would they be able to handle it?
  17. Im not saying anything you said here is wrong, but i think that AA has had some of those long bus rides etc. I have been talking to a few people from AA. And there was a show or 2 that i belive they left early one morning from AZ and drove out to Cali and had to perform that night. with very little time after they got off the bus to eat, change, and warm up. With what i've heard about the staff, i have no doubt that they will be able to stay focused. Good luck to AA and im pretty sure they'll end up somewhere on top this season...can't wait to see what happens
  18. yah as chuck said both bass 5's for devs and scv were 32's and the guys were huge, but they were definately not 30" drums.... scv hasn't changed the size of their drums recently, they've gotten new ones, the carbon fiber ones, thats the only thing thats different other than that the sizes are the same....
  19. but do you not remember where traditional came from?
  20. wow practicing at 7,000 feet...how many corps get to do that? i agree with ^^^ though...their endurance and stamina will be amazing!! i can't wait to see what they throw at us...
  21. see i dont' think there should be any blame on the kids of how they did...they tried their hardest and gave it their all, so i think that people should show them respect, for going out there with a show like they had this year and performing it....i think the only thing that should be mentioned about jester would be the staff...and maybe the need to change the way they do things a lil...im not saying redo everything in that corps, but maybe change how things are taught or something...give the kids a lil something more to have fun with. but good job this year jester! way to work hard even when it was tough with no crowd response! *2 thumbs up*
