  1. Now there's that Sunriser spirit!! Best of luck to the competing corps this year. See ya'll at Copaigue!
  2. Well, if you can afford to buy yourself 6 Degs AND a "Ziggy Special", I expect you can well afford to pay exorbitant shipping costs. Like the other guy said - shipping for a sop horn should not cost $35 bucks no matter what it's shipped in. My horn came double boxed and loaded with foam peanuts, INSIDE the original case, for less than half that. Shipping places are notorious for overcharging on packing. Not to argue, but stating facts. Why get a good deal on a horn and blow it up with ridiculous shipping? Deal buster #1.
  3. Still looking, Bud. All depends on price. If you want to email me privately from my profile, we can discuss it further.
  4. I would expect that to be out of my price range, Bill, but thanks.
  5. I can't afford either of them although I wish I could. That said, the shipping quote from the UPS store is nuts. The last sop horn I bought on ebay was shipped to NY from Texas and cost me $18 bucks. That may be why you haven't had any takers.
  6. Looking for a 2 or 3 valve mello in good shape. Probably switching from sop in my old age! Reasonably priced, please, but no junk.
  7. Hey - parades are cool! I always loved a good parade. Back in 66 we had one parade on Memorial Day in Massapequa went from Southern State Parkway all the way to Sunrise Highway (about 3 miles) ... and we did it twice!
  8. Outstanding, Tom. How many horns will you be putting out this year? Sounds like Sun is coming back big time! Congrats, and good luck to all the younger Sun members - us old farts in the alumni know you'll make us proud carrying on the great traditions of the Sunrisers! Give'em ####, kids! BFC/IYM!
  9. A trailer is not a 40' truck, so what is it ... a trailer, or a truck?
  10. Not with a mello, but I bought one in 3C for my sop and it's ultra cool. Very comfortable to play on.
  11. (sarcastic mode=on) I rather think Mr. Lukehart has no trouble whatsoever with wind. (sarcastic mode=off)
  12. I'm dealing with that right now, trying to get back in shape for alumni corps. Haven't played in 30 years and coming back is just hard. What came easy years ago ain't happening now. Argh... :(
  13. Exactly what I was thinking. When I marched DC 30-some years ago we just played. Period. I have never even heard the expressions "upstream" or "downstream" before! You younger guys are much more technically involved than we were; much more educated. Most of us were guys who simply enjoyed making music - preferably LOUD - and not college music majors. We played because we enjoyed it, and all the technical stuff wasn't even an issue.
  14. Nobody plays by ear anymore? Most of the standards are so simple that anyone with a decent ear should be able to pick it up pretty quickly. ####, some of us never even learned to sight read back in the day! BTW, there is not a ###### thing wrong with being banished to the garage. Happened to me when I cracked a window in my bedroom practicing upper registers. Considering my garage had a cooler, nice chairs, and a TV set .....
