  1. Perhaps another reason there aren't that many floating around in pawn shops is that their horns are excellently made and priced accordingly. Thus, you don't have a lot of high school kids using them and selling them off when they get to college and find out they don't want to be music majors. Most Schilke horns are bought by trumpet players who know what they're doing and what they want. The best horn is the one that fits your playing style and needs. You would be far better served getting advice from a trumpet teacher who knows your playing characteristics than by supply and demand.
  2. E-Mail me Salvation as a Finale file and I'll send you Malagueña in reply. Chip
  3. I'm just trying to gauge interest. I have three in good condition for $900 each (plus shipping).
  4. This message is for everyone other than the original poster (saxman silver): Don't beg. If you have anything to offer in trade, I will be glad to trade you...just let me know what you have. I've got lots of corps scores and will gladly trade them for other corps scores.
  5. Horn is in good overall condition. One small wrinkle in bell and missing one spit valve. $300 includes dynasty hard shell case and domestic shipping. Email for pictures. PS - Sorry I left out this bit of information: This is a G Mellophone Bugle. I think it's ridiculous that I have to make that distinction in a DRUM CORPS forum, however, things ain't what they used to be.
  6. $455 gets it to my door in playable condition. Not too bad, huh? :) Now for the overhaul. Should a 3rd valve be added or not? What's the verdict on playability afterwards?
  7. Let me know what version you're looking for via email. I've got the piano score, the VK (88) arrangement and the Madison ('96) arrangement

    King Bugles

Okay, so I've got a K20, K40, K50 and K70. I know the K90 is the contra, and K80 is the Euph. So what were the K10, K30 and K60? And who has one they'd be willing to sell (K-10, K-30, K60, K90) Chip Torgerson
  9. No, if it's not G it's marching band. There's nothing wrong with marching band...just don't call it something it's not.
  10. Kanstul G Euphoniom: 8 Lbs DyNASTY G Euphonium: 7 Lbs 14 oz I neither know nor care what the band horns weigh. The biggest difference in parts between baritones and euphoniums is range. Euphoniom parts are, in some cases, more simliar to contra parts.
  11. All Horns For Sale Include Case: Dynasty 3 Valve Mellophone - $275 Needs one spit valve and has some dents in the bell. Plays quite well right now, but easily repairable. Olds Ultratone French Horn Valve Rotor Bugle - Long Model - $75 Getzen Titleist French Horn Valve Rotor Bugle - Long Model - $50 Slingerland Tenor/Baritone V/R Bugle (if you can tell a difference, please tell me!) - $50 This one has some dents in the bell that could easily be rolled out. Getzen Titleist Tenor/Baritone Valve Rotor Bugle (ditto) - $50 Shipping is $25 for each horn. Please contact with any questions. Photos are available for interested parties....just ask. :)
  12. Okay...apparantly nobody else wants to post any reviews, so I'll post what I remember. Hopefully others will follow suit (hint, hint). Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to see or hear the Bahia Shrine or the Florida Alumni corps. However, I did get a chance to speak with some of the members from Florida Alumni and they were all incredibly nice people. I hope to get a chance to see them again. Jackson Generals - I perform with this group, so I won't say anything other than this: We had a wonderful time performing for such a great crowd. Thanks very much to all the great work done by Heat Wave to get business taken care of. Shenandoah Sound - I didn't get to catch the entire show, but what I saw was promising. I look forward to seeing this corps grow. I love Blood, Sweat & Tears so the show design worked for me. Carolina Gold - Impressive!! I haven't seen a drum corps show since DCA 2000, so it was great to see this group since I have friends that have been involved with the corps. I wasn't directly in front of the corps as they performed, but the horns and drums were very good. The guard soloist was great too! I enjoyed very much watching the corps come off the field and noticing that the members of this group are older than I would have imagined after watching their performance. CorpsVets - It was great to see these guys. I was happy to see many of the people I marched with still there. I didn't get near enough time to speak with the people I wanted to, but everyone was there to do a job. :) Darryl is getting some great writing done for you guys. I enjoyed his arrangements immensely. Of course, he has a good hornline to write for. I was most impressed with the mellophone section!! The guard was large and very good!! The victory performance was loud and looked like the corps enjoyed it very much. Very nice hamming it up from Greg on the last note. :P Special Apologies go out to Tammi...all I can say is this: He was a drummer. I hope that is suffieient explanation. Heat Wave - I didn't get to hear all of their show, either; however the group has great energy and it comes across how much they enjoy performing. I appreciated the honor guard very much. Having not seen them since 2000, they're bigger and much improved since then. I wish them the best of luck in Scranton in Class A. Bonus Review - Thanks to the extremely nice man who helped push the little blue car out of the mud. Also, many thanks to everybody in Carolina Gold who waited until we had driven out of earshot before laughing your ##### off.....and if you didn't laugh your ##### off, you should have. :) Frogger's - Ummm, this is probably more directed at our waiter more so than the establishment itself, but I vote for a change of venue next year. Okay....the ball's rolling. Anyone who was there please post your review!!!!

  17. I've written Dynasty to inquire about the SILK mouthpieces and also the personal model Wayne Downey trumpet. I received a reply stating that information would be available in about a month.
  18. Yeah, what's Wayne thinking with those 17 high brass trophies?!?! :D All in good fun, friend.
  19. There is a CG Personal mouthpiece on eBay (Item # 851368490) with a buy it now price of $45.00. It isn't gold plated, but you could buy it and have it gold plated somewhere else. The auction expires on March 18th, but as I states, it has a Buy it now price set. (not my auction...just trying to help!)
  20. Mike, She marched with Southwind in '94 only. I'm lucky we met. I was dating a girl in their guard when I saw my wife. I saw her and knew I had to meet her, so I got the girl in the guard to introduce us. :)
  21. Chip......let me dig around......i may have it somewhere. That would be great, Jeff! Thanks for looking!
  22. If anybody has a program from the Allentown show in 1994, I would love to buy it. My wife and I met at that show while marching with different corps, and it would be a lovely momento for us to have. Thanks!
  23. When I marched, I placed my ring and pinkie fingers underneath the third valve slide. It's pretty uncomfortable to get used to, but once you do, it's no big deal. It gives a feeling of using less pressure, to me. As for the horns down position, I hilghly recommend and enjoyed the two hands in front carraige.
