  1. Too sweet. Was hoping they'd be out Tues like last week. Had to miss the SA show for an all-day bachelor party. Can't wait to see Academy and see how Bluecoats are progressing. Are they still all high cam? Sure would love to see some multi (or all multi).
  2. Agree with that. The 'Coats have the show to pass Cavs, Cadets and even Devs. But they need to have that "top 3 swagger" to do it. They need to bring the fire.
  3. Cadets tried a full-field covering on Finals night in '99 and it was a disaster. Windy night + 100-yard-long tarp = bad news.
  4. How do you score that? Seriously, think about it. Can't use simple decibel level (even if you could, where would the applause meter go? what if the right side of the crowd was louder than the left?) . Any scoring method you use will have a heavy dose of opinion, so why have the judges speculate what other people think? I'm a little miffed at this one, too. I think I remember the full year pass last year being $79 and the summer pass $39. This year, there's only full year. So from that perspective, it's only a $10 difference. However, for guys like you and me, it's a $50 difference. I have not gotten an answer on this from DCI, but my guess is too many people bought the summer pass and it didn't cover their costs. I don't look at it so much anymore as I'm paying too much this year as I got a great deal last year. Last year, the full-show streaming thing was a bonus...esp. with how often they did it. This year, it's a feature of the package. So really, last year it was free (while it was in Beta) and this year you're paying for it. If you look at it like you are getting streaming full shows (any time you want, no less!) for $50 more than last year, it is a good deal. Wow, does this one open up a can of worms... I'm gonna say no: the slotting is not done, corps can still jump between "slots". Take BK last year, for instance. In mid/late July they had begun to pull away from "the pack" but still lost to Boston at San Antonio. No one expected by Finals they were going to take Crown, who looked like they were gunning for the top 5. Lots of funny stuff can happen on Finals night. Last year, only 3 corps' placements remained unchanged between semis & Finals (Cavaliers, Gmen & Spirit).
  5. Yeah, but how do you do that when the people are 2 inches tall? High cam is good for drill, but lousy for getting the whole experience. Wouldn't it be cool if we could pick our own angles from DCI's cameras as they feed in?
  6. Agree with this. I love the show, they just really ticked me off in Atlanta, though. I wasn't feeling much fire at all. Least exciting performance in the top 7. That show'll take them wherever they want to go, though. That's new for the 'Coats. IMO, 'Coats, BD and Cadets are the only ones with Chapion-level shows. (Of course, Cavs have proven before they can win with a non-champion-level show).
  7. Finally a good draw for the 'Coats. GO BLOOO!!!
  8. Me too. I can watch all the streamed video I want until the real DVDs come out. This one will be missing all the cool features, a month of polish and the Colts!
  9. Colts are a lock for being in. Glassmen are a probably. Spirit is on the fence. Madison looks down, but I'm not counting them out just yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see them back again on Sat night in Pasadena.
  10. No, he said it's NOT what most people think it's going to be...
  11. What show are you watching? It's not the product that's holding them back, it's selling it. They just haven't gotten better as quickly as the top 3. Inexperience with being at the top maybe...
  12. I have to echo this sentiment (though maybe not in the same sarcastic tone). I had a similar experience as a spectator one year at Finals sitting near current-year members of the 13th place corps. During the 12th place corps' show, one of them shouted "[13th Place Corps] are better than you!" I understand, however, that those bad apples publicly airing their sour grapes do not represent what I know to be a classy organization and have no desire to tarnish that corps' reputation in a public forum.
  13. No kidding. At least it wasn't during the actual show I guess.
  14. Can't say I'm surprised seeing 'Coats in 5th. They need to kick it up a notch. Of the top 3 corps in Kzoo (BD, Cavs, Coats), they were the least improved. And Cadets are definitely right in the top 3.
  15. Sweet...BK's banner graphic is the Sword Sorceress.
  16. This corps is out for blood (and they may get it), but am I the only one not loving the repertoire? They're one of my favorite 3 corps the past 3 years, but I'm not feeling it yet in '07.
  17. Can't really get into BAC. They're good, but the emotion doesn't grab me like Colts.
  18. I love the eclectic design. It's classic Colts. It's what they've almost always done and it works for them when they have the chops (like now). Equinox aka "We gave it a serious-sounding title because we had to to be competitive, but we're just playing whatever the heck we feel like!"
  19. The Colts are fan-freakin'-tastic! This corps has a legitimate shot at not just making finals, but matching (beating?) their best placement ever. Are they the only all-girl guard of the night? Any others left in Div I?
  20. You know, after actually seeing their show, I don't think a Sat night appearance is all that far-fetched.
